  3. Can't host a game of Yuri's Revenge in CnC Net, only i load and I get a Victorious screen.

My firewall and anti-virus arent the issue and i read others are also having this problem. Now I can't even launch the game due to a crash Update: fixed by reinstalling

  8. C&C yuri's revenge campaign cuz i prefer just playing the campaign on repeat lol. So basically everything works great except for right past the loading screen when u really get into a game and it tweaks out by freezing the screen. if i tab out and back in its fine until i finish the misson. when it tries to leave the mission to go to the post campaign mission screen it freezes up for good and i couldnt do anything to fix it. and i will say this im kinda an idiot when it comes to the computer stuff but i can do enough to get the game started thanks to tutorials. my question is does any one know how to fix this? the it freezes like this anytime it starts or ends a mission.

So I've decided to make my own in c#. With the help of the RA++ team (Omniblade, CCHyper & Tomsons26, anyway) I figured out the font format itself, and managed to make code to read it and show it as image. Apparently this format is used for quite a bit more than C&C1 and RA1; we used fonts from Legend of Kyrandia as test material as well, and apparently this should support Dune II too. Fonts have no colour palette of their own. They are 4-bit (meaning, 16 colour) images that, much like SHP files, receive colours from the game at the moment they're drawn. So I started off by generating a simple black-to-white fade for the palette, with black as the background color. This version also already moved the character down according to the extra Y-offset in the file. Next step: making an actual editor. I already had a zooming pixel image viewer from a little C&C-N64 project I worked on in the past few weeks, so that part was no problem (as already seen in the previous image). So the next step: drawing an editing grid on it. Well, I say "on it", but actually I needed three extra image layers positioned both behind and in front of the original image to pull it off, lol. Transparency is a strange thing in .Net controls. Next was getting a pixel drawn on that to indicate your editing position. That was easier than expected, really, and now I had a nifty giant pixel following my mouse around. Also note the fancy program icon; Tomsons26 made that I decided, around this time, to switch to a more colourful palette that would let you easily distinguish the different indices when editing. I just basically went over all hue values and made a nice little rainbow. I also coded in some extra behaviour to allow disabling the grid, and the red frame that shows you which part of it is actually editable. Of course, an editor is utterly useless if it can't actually save files, a little detail Siberian_GRemlin seemed to forget when he released a "demo" of his editor... eight years ago now. So after editing worked, I went into the mess of trying to save the image data back to palette. It took a few tries to get it right. But, finally, I managed to get a saved file! No, wait, crap, that's one of the failed ones. Ahem. Anyway. The pic I linked before shows the final successful attempt. There's a little pixel I made transparent, in the middle, to prove it was actually edited. Trust me, it was orange originally Now, there's just one thing still missing from the editor... and that's, well, the actual editing, more or less. I could only change the colour to one specific one with the left mouse button, and to background (transparency) with the right mouse button. So I dug up another nice control I had lying around for one of my older projects, namely a palette-loading colour selector. Took some time to adapt it, since the original was meant for 256 colours, but, I'm happy with the final result! It's starting to look good, no? At this moment, it's still missing some vital features, though; you can't change the size of the images or their Y-offset, and you can't add new character images to a font. These will come later, but at this moment, I do actually have a working editor.   15. question on how to add the terrain from tiberian sun to red alert....i know how to make "custom units" well...basically from that youtube video thatll pop up when you ask the question "final sun custom units" my problem is that id like to get into red alert 2... (3 was too cartoony) but its too damn slow and the terrain is just terrible to the eyes. it dont flow the same. tiberian suns tiles would blend together and have like a mesh between two tiles (their grass was weird and bushy but it flowed good) ra2 is very high contrast colors...its off putting to say the least.... other than that i could settlle for a way to add red alert units and such to tiberian sun....(im trying to make a new "civilian" or "mob" faction and could use all the extra units and buildings anways...the OS SHP builder and etc is hard to find a realistic tutorial on).... im really interested in the tiles tho....that seems like the easiest thing to do.
  16. Hello. So sorry to just join for bug support. Let me start out by saying that it warms my heart to see such a huge community gathered around arguably my favourite childhood games. But now, to not stray off topic too much, here's the issue. System information: Red Alert 2 from the Ultimate Collection Windows 10 Home, 64 bit Intenso SATA III SSD drive 4095 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 graphics card Intel Core i5 4460 3.20 GHz 16gb DDR3 Dual-Channel 799 MHz ASRock B85 Pro4 mainboard I started out by installing Red Alert 2. I fixed some of the standard issues that comes with it and got it running. But due to the Alt-Tab issue, I went and installed a DDraw file. As that didn't work and nothing else I could find worked, I came across CNCNet. And as promised, installing the client fixed a whole lot of annoying issues in Red Alert 2. However, my menus got messed up a LOT. My start menu works really well, perfectly in fact. Start campaign, start Skirmish and everything. But the options menu is royally messed up. And when I get in game, the pause menu is messed up. Several of the visible buttons have the wrong label and only shows the correct one once clicked. Furthermore, Load Game is missing, Restart is missing from Abort and the sliders are misaligned in the game options menu. Thinking I did something wrong, I tried completely uninstalling RA2, deleted all the files in the folder and the folder itself, did a fresh Origin install and tried to boot it fresh. The problem which I didn't have before persists now, even with a clean Origin install. With or without the amazing fixes from CNCNet, my RA2 is almost unplayable due to specifically the missing load game button and restart mission button. The game itself runs well, but as I am currently playing missions for nostalgia, I cannot actually be without those two buttons. So far I tried a LOT. I tried installing different DDraws, both manually and through the CNCNet client, to no avail. No setting changes I tried fixed it. I tried several of the graphic tricks out there, several compatibility modes(and none), disabling high res DPI scaling and screaming at the heavens. I am completely and utterly out of ideas, and I hope a kind soul in here will have the answer I seek. I couldn't find it via the Search menu, but honest talk, I didn't quite know what to search for, so if this is a common and often answered issue, I am very terribly sorry. I attached screenshots showing that the main menu and start game menu works, and then I hope you can get a sense of the weird collage of broken menu items I also attached. I wanted to save space to not upload 7 pictures

  18. i want to make a map where spots are auto allied, if any one knows the code for allying in a map or just flat out knows how to do this plz let me know. i saw anothere thread where they said to set the waypoints to =a team (a or b) but taht didnt work when i tied it.
  19. QM lobby user interface has a Process Watcher section in the settings tab. What do these executables do? Why are they called Process Watchers? How to reset the defaults? Thanks

    Hi all, Old player from xwis. *Same ign till now. **i am able to play on my laptop (win 7), and also go in the "current" server for online games...maybe some had seen me in game.. So, recently bought a new desktop. No way to even install RA2 on it, not to mention YR. Scenario 1 After putting that disc in, it have that pop up saying "Warning....." After i click install, nothing happens. I am using the original disc purchased some 20 years back. Had tried compatibility mode.(To win xp sp3) i hv googled, tried few ways but all failed. Method 1 Saw some mentioned...go xwis and download from a link posted by Olaf year back. It installed, but keep getting black screen, game hang.. *I tried to install YR using disc, it says that they cannot detect the RA2 in my C drive, westwood folder. *So i tried shifting that whole file and created a Westwood folder..it still does not allow me to install... Method 2 Saw another link>> The "run, regedit, to >> Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Secdrv" Did manage to reach that file but was afraid computer spoil. Do not dare to do anything. *Am not good in computer. So, like i mentioned, i am able to play on my laptop (giving up on me soon), it is just "this desktop" i am at my wits end.   22. An error occurred while updating. Returned error: Cannot create a file, the file already exists. (The error is displayed in my windows language which is not English, so it could be slightly different). Solution what worked for me: Re-install the client. Then I was asked about update to 8.2 again (but size was 9 KB instead 41 MB) which was successful.

    Red alert 2 hangs

    when I'm in red alert 2 and esc press hangs the game on I use cncnet for the battles and I can't make a break. because if I do one I can close the game right away with task managerand the updates of cncnet always fail Please help me
