I've noticed that many users are having issues due to not updating the client. Apparently they don't think that it's necessary to update, but it is. So, why not make it mandatory? Woudn't that be better? Why ask them if they want to update or not when they're gonna face problems if they don't? I mean, to be able to use the client properly, see all available rooms, play normally without crashes and avoid getting kicked repeatedly for having different files (not updating) which creates a negative experience (especially for new users), the logical thing would be to just update the client automatically everytime a new update comes out (the next time you start the client), because nobody would want to have problems! It only takes a minute or so, and saves you a lot of time asking here and there, searching for answers, posting, reporting, trying to figure out what's wrong.

Recently I got the latest version of Twisted Insurrection. The game is really fun but has some severe technical issues. It keeps encountering internal errors. This happens mostly when you play third or fourth skirmish match. I haven't attempted to play online yet because of this issue. It doesn't matter how the previous game ended, whether normally or aborted by player. Sometimes even the second match ends up with a message about encountering an internal error. One GDI mission also causes this problem when you try to load a saved game. It has no problems if you restart the mission but save it any time and try to load that position and again the game will end up with an internal error message. Said mission is 6th or so - the one where you begin with 2 Scatterpacks and 2 Snipers and have to blow up a train bridge using an engineer. I'm adding the latest crash logs for more info. Hello, I'm new at modding, and I'm trying to move units between mods. For example, I'd like to add the vanilla Wolverine to Twisted Insurrection. I know that I have to move the Rules.ini and the Art.ini entries, and how those are linked, but I don't know where the graphics are stored and how they're linked to the ini files I know about. I couldn't find a guide explaining how all the various elements of a unit's definition are linked together, is there a chart or guide out there that explains that? Thank you.

Hello everybody. I haven't been active in the Command & Conquer community for some time, it's nice to see that it is still thriving and that there is plenty of online activity, with that being said, a friend of mine has brought something to my attention that I wanted to query with the current staff. In the Tiberian Sun Client there appear to be some maps that are being used that were maps that I had initially made exclusively for Twisted Insurrection. Some of these maps started off as remakes of maps from other games like Red Alert 2 such as the ones titled Rocky Road, Twinside and Redemption. I am not particularly bothered about these for the reasons stated earlier, despite the fact that they were remade from the ground up, but they are still shamelessly pulled from Twisted Insurrection with minor edits to make them compatible with Tiberian Sun, they even use the same alternative name that I gave them as opposed to the names of the maps they were based on which shows they were directly taken from the mod. My main gripe is that there is also the map Vinifera Valley which has been a Twisted Insurrection exclusive map that I created quite some time ago. It appears that it is in circulation at the moment as part of an official update to the Tiberian Sun Client , yet, no credit is given to myself or to Twisted Insurrection itself for use of the map anywhere as far as I can tell. I have checked with the active members of the Twisted Insurrection team as of the moment and, as far as we know, nobody asked permission to use these maps and no credit has been given. May I ask why this is and what has happened here? Thanks.

Whenever I join a game that If game has a new map, the following message was released. The host has a selected a map that doesn't exist on your installation. Attempting to download it from the CnCNet map database. Downloading custom map failed. Requesting the game host to download it to the CnCNet map database. Download of the custom map failed. The host needs to change the map or you will be unable to participate in this match. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

I am making a mod for Tiberian Sun, but I need a file which I cannot find in my directory. I have no GameOptions.ini, and cannot find a way to add more factions to the game, so does CnCNet come with the file? Or do I have to download it elsewhere?

Greetings, For some reason my DTA client doesn't work anymore, and this is the case for everything I own. E.g, MO and TI etc... I have installed Windows 10 lately so that could be an issue with some .dll file or something, idk. Tried to reinstall one of the mods but didn't work, also installed XNA framework 4.0 but nope. Here is my client folder. - DR client.log

I have problem with C&Cnet client using mods all force native screen resolution witch is 3840x2160 and i cant change it since it reverts manual change in ini file back to native and only way i can use custom screen resolution is by making ini read only. I add pictures of my problem i only hope that there is a way to fix this.

I did fix some things like triggers and things, but when I start the map, it takes longer to load in the "creating theories on likely enemy plan" part and after that, the game crashes with an internal error. Here's the map if you're interested in fixing the problem: nod1a.map EDIT: Open the map with FinalTI

Is there any way to disable the auto save in TI? It causes a lag spike after and I'd like to get rid of that if anyone knows how.

Can't seem to download twisted insurrection. It reroutes to some kind of ad page instead. Not sure if the link is broken or I have a virus of some kind.

Whenever you run RA2YR (or even TS), can you set the resolution of at least 2560x1600? If so, do you have a resolution option that increases the 2560 width but not the 1600 height? Does that option work? How far can you widden the resolution without increasing the height of 1600? Note: Included MO, TI and DTA because they use the TS/YR engine, and so are included in this question. It's a question of engine limits.

I didn't know where to post it since it actually works with all classic westwood games (td, ra, ts, ra2, dune 2000). DDrawCompat is a DirectDraw proxy dll just like cnc-ddraw, ts-ddraw, ddwrapper. It improved the performance dramatically for everyone who tested it yet (went over 14000 FPS in ra1 for me!!). It also solves the alt+tab bugs on windows 8/10 (and the menu bugs too). It should work fine on Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10. (We had no one to try Vista yet) Even if you don't have any issues with the games, it's still worth a try. It prevents slow downs in big battles online or even in skirmish with AI. Give it a try: https://github.com/narzoul/DDrawCompat/releases Note: use the latest experimental release

So me and a group of work friends have been playing a lot of the games through CnCNet recently, I usually host them but I noticed as host I tend to get a bit of delay in game. So I thought maybe I'd look into spinning up a server through DigitalOcean, or an old tower. I did some light searching and found a post from 2016 which stated that the specs were 1 Core, 512 MB RAM, 20 GB HDD. Do these still hold true, and are they the recommended level specs for a cncnet server? Thanks ahead of time!

Anytime i launch the game online especially YR & MO, the game waits for all players to enter, but the connection bar goes to red slowly (gradual). EDIT: i think i know why i can't play, i tried to open valve's steam client week ago, and after that, i got something shocking, i had a message saying: "An incompatible version of HMIPCore.dll (related to HideMyIP / My Privacy Tools) has been detected inside of the Steam process." "We suggest updating or uninstalling this software if you experience crashes or network shutdowns while running Steam or Individual games.", Maybe this has something to do with CnCNet5 too.

Running CnCNet server using systemd (Linux x64) wget downloads.cncnet.org/tunnel.sh sh tunnel.sh 200 "Unnamed Server" If you're unsure what linux distro to choose, just take the latest version of Ubuntu Using the above method you can run both CnCNet servers as a service and they will continue to run even after the server restarted. Alternatively you can also run the servers individually (see below): New Server (All Games) Linux x64 example: wget -c https://downloads.cncnet.org/cncnet-server.tgz -O - | tar -xz nohup ./cncnet-server --name "My cool server" --maxclients 200 --port 50001 --portv2 50000 > cncnet-server.log 2>&1 & Linux ARM Windows: On XP, Vista and 7 make sure .NET 4.0 is installed: https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/download/details.aspx?id=17113 Download the server and start it: http://downloads.cncnet.org/cncnet-server-gui.exe Note: Servers are chosen automatically by CnCNet and are only used in case 2 players fail to establish a Peer-To-Peer connection. Yuri's Revenge players can select a specific server via the advanced settings while hosting a game room. Old Server (Yuris Revenge only) Linux (Ubuntu) example: sudo apt-get install default-jre wget http://downloads.cncnet.org/cncnet-tunnel.exe nohup java -jar cncnet-tunnel.exe -name "My cool server" -maxclients 200 -port 50000 -headless > cncnet-tunnel.log 2>&1 & Windows: Download the server and start it: http://downloads.cncnet.org/cncnet-tunnel.exe Note: To use a specific server you'll have to select it via the advanced settings while hosting a game room. The servers will not show up instantly on the website, it can take up to 4 hours
