Return of the Dawn .exe Hex Edits

Recommended Posts

I was trying to figure out how to edit ts-spawn.exe to work with RotD for CnCNet (using a vanilla TS GAME.EXE), and besides the file name changes, icon changes, NoCD and a few edits that I found with LKO's executable modifier I had two differences left between the vanilla .exe and the RTD.exe, and was wondering if anyone knew if they had any important effects.

At 0x148 3A 4E 35 gets changed to 61 ED 34, but since it was close to the beginning of the file I don't think it changes any functions and probably has to do with the icon data. The second is at 0x874C where 75 07 BD 0A is changed to 75 0A BD 10. I haven't been able to find any other TS .exes that have this edit, which makes it confusing.

The .exe from RTD 2.8.5 and the edited GAME.exe are in the attached .7z. The file names haven't been changed yet in the GAME.exe, and the icon data was removed to make comparison simpler.

      Hey All,
Windows 10 did an update that murdered my computer and i was halfway through a command and conquer binge.
I installed Tiberian Sun and went to play it and got the menu freezes error. I have tried two unofficial patches, and they won't even start up the game anymore, tried running it in compatibility modes, tried running as administrator, tried deleting files/adding files and can't get it working.
Before the update no issue everything worked and was having a grand old time, since the update and my computer dying i have had nothing but issues.
So is there any last solutions to get this bad boy back up and running?

I'm having trouble modding the primary weapon of the E1 Light Infantry.  I changed the Primary=Minigun to Primary=LtRail as a mini experiment of sorts but nothing happened.  The Light Infantry are still using the Minigun.  I then tried modifying the Minigun damage stat but the Light Infantry still did the same amount of damage.  Is this some form of hard coding or is there another category or stat that I need to change?

      Hello,

I've also posted this on the portingkit forums, but I just realized I might get better help here. I'm trying to install Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun for MacOS (http://portingkit.com/game/366), but it gives me the attached error message when installing: "Error 12169 from wininet.dll". It looks like it's a problem downloading the game's resource files?

I'd appreciate any help anyone could offer!

      Thanks!

      Hi.
Is there any way to cancel a built construction or a unit in progress from the build icons on the right of the screen?

I effectively froze a game the other night by accidentally building a power turbine when I had no power station. All other controls were idol and all I could do was abort the game!
I can’t find any keyboard shortcuts for this online and can’t remember from playing as a kid if it’s even possible.
I’m using a Mac but all other shortcuts are the same as windows.

So I have the free version of Tiberian Sun that I downloaded from FilePlanet and it wouldn't start because of a DLL error. After I ran TSpatch, all of the other functions such as online and skirmish work fine, but I still can't play the offline version. Every time I do, the screen flashes black for a second two times and then nothing else happens. This happens launching the game directly from the game files or through the CnCNet launcher. I tried running the patch again, reextracting the original RAR and patching again, installing an updated ddraw.dll I found in another thread, and manually changing the renderer. Changing the renderer extended the crash time enough for me to get a Windows message saying that the main executable had crashed, but nothing further. Any ideas?
