nevermind i figured it out. turns out my onboard sound card was on the fritz, so i installed an actual sound card and now smooth as silk

if any more info is required let me know EDIT: also i just installed Tiberian Dawn (from the site) and in game, it plays smooth but the sound is really horrible

I've recently been having problems with Tiberian Sun (freeware) but also with either discs including firestorm. whenever i play it the cutscenes run at like 1 FPS, then in-game it runs perfect. its a game ruiner for me; i've played it before on the same system with no problems, but now this popped up and i really want to play the story again. and with RA2, the video looks good but the soviet chick at the beginning sounds like the Nod mutants from Renegade :laugh: here are my specs: Windows XP Home Edition 32-bit SP2 2.7ghz AMD Athlon 64 LE-1640 4gb ram Nvidia GeForce GTS 450 1gb i've done both system and registry cleanups with no results. along with the graphics patcher and videobackbuffer. also closed all unnecessary programs via Task Manager and MSCONFIG. could really use some help here, i'm drawing a blank
