Looking into getting a laptop for PC games, currently have a Mac. Any laptop suggestions/software (windows, etc.) that are compatible with cnc for red alert 2/yr's revenge?

Thinking about going all out and getting a good, old windows xp desktop so I can play again. Is it worth it? How is the CnCNet with online gameplay in red alert 2/yuri's revenge? Still some good games of TOE? Thanks ahead of time for any input any of you put forward!
