Sound help

My internal speaker on my pc tower stopped working i bought usb speaker, but now when battleing all the sounds are the exact same strength volume no matter where they are on the screen where before if the firefight was distant it would be more faint. but now with everything the same i cant tell if im .   I bought a different set of usb  speakers thinking maybe that was it and they do the same thing all noise close or distant same volume output
