Trouble With Private Games

On Yuri's Revenge, a friend and I are trying to make a private game room to play 1v1 and we can't seem to see each other's games in order to actually join up and play together.  Are there any troubleshooting steps we should take to get this to work?

Hey make sure you're on the same client version (E.g both on version 6.3)
