(Solved) Yuri's Revenge: No YR sound effects?
Techno_Man replied to Techno_Man's question in Support
Mmkay, thanks. I'll see what I can do with that. Also, I downgraded my computer back to Windows 8 by factory resetting it, allowing me to bypass the security update against Safedisk and Securom. -

langmd.mix is present in the game's folder, but XCC Mixer doesn't appear to have them present either. -
(Solved) Yuri's Revenge: No YR sound effects?
Techno_Man replied to Techno_Man's question in Support
I can hear everything that came from Red Alert 2, but tanks that didn't have original voice clips before (i.e. Grizzly voice for an IFV) don't have any now. I'm installing from disk, and nothing is muted. I might have to use XCC Mixer after school today to see if the sound effects work there. -
Voice clips and sound effects for vehicles that aren't the Grizzly Tank, Terror Drone or Rhino Tank as well as everything else introduced in YR seem to be completely absent when I play the game. I've already reinstalled twice. Assistance please? Solution: I did a fresh reinstall after uninstalling some programs, including XCC Utilities. I then extracted files from the XWIS installation and replaced them in the directory.

How did you bypass the SafeDisc protection that you seemed to have a problem with last year: https://forums.cncnet.org/index.php?topic=4887.0 ? I actually reset my computer to factory specifications so that it would start Windows 8.1. -

I'll try installing with the Allied Disk, maybe I'll get a different result. No avail, everything still died when I tried to go to campaign. -

I installed RA2 today, hyped as ever, until I'm stopped in my tracks by the anti-piracy "all units and buildings die" thing. I installed using the code straight from the back of the box my game came in, but the game thinks it's been pirated. Does anyone have any ideas on what's happening or how to fix it? P.S.: I tried using Origin, but the game freezes every 5 minutes, causing me to lose precious work. P.P.S.: I'm running Compatibility for Win XP SP3, as well as running as administrator. This is on Windows 8. -
ISSUE RESOLVED: Red Alert 2 wouldn't install on W10

How were you able to get Yuri's Revenge to work the first time? Did you do anything different the second time? I had done nothing different, I just put the CD in and attempted to start/install the game. Yuri's Revenge worked, but Red Alert 2 didn't. -

It's a Windows update. http://myonlinesecurity.co.uk/september-2015-windows-updates-kb3086255-breaks-many-games/ Windows Update KB3086255 isn't installed. -

Something to do with Windows 10 disabling some required functionality for your RA2 cd's to run and install. As a workaround, you could download the Free RA2 Origin bundle (which includes YR). Details are at the bottom of the page - http://cncnet.org/red-alert-2 I tried Origin. It freezes. Maybe compatibility issues...? -

I don't have any updates that disable Safedisc (that I know of.) -
Both my games are on normal, standard edition Red Alert 2 and Yuri's Revenge CD's. If the topic title is vague, let me explain. This morning, I started playing Yuri's Revenge. I got bored, so I decided to finish up the allied campaign for normal Red Alert 2. When I put the disk in and tried to start the game, nothing opened. I tried to uninstall both games and restart my computer. When I tried to reinstall Red Alert 2, nothing opened; I even tried running Setup.exe directly from the disk, and used many different compatibility options with no avail. Now I can't play either game because Red Alert 2 won't install, and Yuri's Revenge requires RA2 to install. Is there something wrong with my Red Alert 2 CD?
