Yuri's revenge freezes at loading screen

Hello,

 

I recently installed RA2 and Yuri's revenge on my new laptop (windows 10) and tried to play it. At first I had several problems getting it up and running (game crash after ~30-60 seconds into the game) but I all fixed those with using compatability modes and such.

 

However, I tried to play the campaign too and that all went perfect, up until I saved the game. I tried to continue a day later and the game just freezed at the 'load game' screen. The sound also stopped and nothings worked.

 

Since I thought it might be possible the save was corrupt, I tried other (auto) saves, but they all did the same thing. Also restarting the campaign and making several other saves didn't change anything.

 

How can this be resolved?

Did you apply XWIS' fixes and follow the instructions carefully?
