  1. TRZ is right. It was the same for me when i started but once i learned the basics, people were more willing to play with me. I suggest doing the following: - read mole40k's tiberian sun guide (search google for it) - watch sol's videos on youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEVSLnbEGMP4cOqH10SzVNw - join terrace games as a spectator and try to copy how they play but bare in mind the tactics they use wont apply to all maps good luck
  2. ra2 looks very playable @ 2560 x 1440p. Wouldn't let me upload a pic so heres the link: http://dl.pcgamer.com/LPC/pixelboost/redalert2/redalert2-10.png
  3. i'd appreciate it if you could post a screenshot of ts in 1440p on the map terraces, just want to see if it looks playable.
  4. I need a new monitor and the 2k/4k ones are quite cheap now.
  5. When im BL on terr and the game goes fairly long, there will be a point where ill find 1-2 harvs doing nothing. Every other spot is fine for me and i rarely have issues on other maps either.

    clans?

Thats good news humble. Nice to know someone is actually working on it and i am also keen to raise money for the work being done. I think we could do something to raise more money than we otherwise would if we solely rely on donations because people will be reluctant to give money with the chance of them maybe never getting anything back in return. I suggest hosting tournaments where players pay an entry fee to raise more money. 50% of the entry fees could go to the top 3 finishers and the other 50% go to tahj & co or something like that. To get this right we need as many players to take part as possible. Therefore, i think its worth considering clan style tournaments as well because it seems more players are into team play as opposed to 1v1. This would also make it more appealing to modders who make up most of the ts community. Hopefully people will be more willing to contribute because at least they get some good games and a shot at winning some money. Its easy enough to set up a donations page which could be used to accept entries as long as there is some way of determining who has donated. (I've never made one myself but mecha has so it can't be that hard!)

    clans?

i agree, it would be EPIC to see clans on TS! Can the cncnet staff please comment on whether clan functionality is something we can look forward to in the near future?
  8. How do you attract new players to a game that is 15 years old when there are newer games with better graphics etc. Its a big ask! The only thing ts has over most of the more popular games is its free to play (I love ts btw). I think you should start small by focusing on keeping hold of the existing community first. There has been a significant drop in activity recently. I noticed a spike when the 1v1 ladder was running so getting that back online would help. The problem with the 1v1 ladder though is that most of the tiberian sun community (mod and ww players) prefer the team games so bringing in a multiplayer ladder or 'clans' would be far more effective. Another suggestion is to introduce regular 1v1 and team play prize tournaments funded by charging entry fees (setup through paypal?). Once enough players have registered the tournament starts. These tournaments should be hosted at 20:00GMT (peak time) daily or weekly so everyone is clear on when to come online. The problem is how to decide the winner in the case of something going wrong e.g recon. The beta ladder often got these decisions wrong so it cant be left to the server unless improvements are made in the technical department. If you were able to implement something like this, Cncnet could collect a very small percentage of the prize which could go towards marketing & other good causes. There are many ways to go about this but you get the point. My 2 cents.
  9. hi I've been trying to record some tiberian sun games and tried several recorders (obs, banicam etc) but when they are set to the preferred "game mode" they only seem to detect the game using the "direct draw" rendering setting. The problem is when using this rendering setting i get an error at around the 5 min mark. I can fix the error by enabling "single processor affinity" but running on 1 core gets super laggy when recording even with fps set to 15. I am aware that i could use any rendering setting if i use the normal "screen capture" method but thats also laggy. I have tried pretty much all combinations of settings in tsconfig and changing the affinity for ts-spawn to dual core but the same problem persists. Why can i use all 4 cores on other rendering settings but not direct draw? Is there a patch i can install that will make direct draw stable on more than 1 core? running windows 10. Any ideas?
