Can't play TS in LAN with beta8r3

0rpheus

Question

Hi

I've been trying to play CnC Firestorm with a friend over LAN but the game keeps crashing after a few minutes of playing. Either my friend's game crashes or mine. I'm using Win7, he's using Win8.1.

I can play skirmish fine but for my friend the skirmish also crashes quite frequently.

I've copied the error message, I don't know if it's useful or not:

Problem signature:

Is there a fix for this? Are we missing some files?

BTW we're using beta8r3 because this is the only version that my friend can run. This- http://cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=41 runs fine for me but my friend with Win8.1 can't run this

try to switch the graphics patch to TS-ddraw in the config

My friend with Win8.1 still crashes after a few minutes. A bit more info: we're both running the launcher in WinXP service pack 3 compatibility mode, otherwise the game won't even run for my friend and for me crashes even in skirmish. We tried both 640x400 and 1366x768 resolution, both crashed for my friend. The weird thing is that we could play a bit longer with the high resolution than with the low one.

EDIT: we tried the IE-ddraw rendering option with 640x480 resolution and we could play for 18 minutes before my friend crashed.
