Cannot download to patch 6.3

My dad and I just found CnCnet and are extacic that we can play this game together again. I have downloaded CnCnet just fine and have updated to 6.3 but when my dad does it the launcher never closes and the update never happens. We can still hear the game music but cannot find the program running anywhere. Any suggestions?
