Tiberian Dawn on Windows 8?

Has anyone been able to get Tiberian dawn to run successfully on Windows 8?  I got it to sorta run, but it was very slow and choppy, even just in the menu, and the screen was shifted up so the top 1/4 of the menu and playing area was cut off.

Where did you get C&C1?

I downloaded version 1.06 r3 from Nyerguds' site.  I can't figure out why it doesn't work.  I can play Iran's Portable RA just fine, but C&C 1 is way too laggy to make it worth playing, which is a real shame.

open ddraw.ini and change: renderer=gdi

 

if you still got problems, delete ddraw.dll
