C&C95 options and menu freeze up

I use a Windows 8 and sometimes C&C will just freeze up on the options, what I mean is I will be playing, wanting to save. Suddenly, the mouse freezes and I can't see where it moves, making it almost impossible to save, and this happens when I play long games. Also, it happens on the menu, any fix for this?

Isn't that just the Win8 mouse bug? It's a known issue.

 

Can't you simply navigate through the menus with the arrow keys, though? It's perfectly possible to save a game that way.

Really? You can do that?

Also, I forgot to add that I can't really see the changes to the menu either, its really hard.
