How To Play Command & Conquer TD Through Westwood Chat in Various OS's

Since the v1.06x patch is launched, and, Much players are a little dissatisfied with the lag on incontinental games through CnCNet, i'm creating this topic.

 

Westwood Chat is only 1x1!

 

If you use the Windows 2000 or XP, See below post.

 

How to play through Windows Vista And Windows 7

 

Steps:

1° Installing Command & Conquer

2° Installing Westwood Chat

3° Patching Westwood Chat

4° Seting Compatiblity with Windows 95

5° Opening Router Ports*

6° Allowing WChat on Windows Firewall**

7° Hosting/Joing/Playing

*= if you uses one or do not know if you have one.

**=if you set it enabled or uses an personal firewall.

1° Installing Command & Conquer

 

If you hasn't installed C&C yet, look at THIS topic.

2° Installing Westwood Chat

 

After you Installed Command & Conquer, Download the Westwood Chat v4.221 here.

 

Open Where you download it, It is called "Westwood_Chat-4.221.exe" by default, Run it, and install it on any directory, like: "C:\WESTWOOD\WWONLINE", it does not matter if you have already installed previous version of Westwood Chat, just download and install.

3° Patching Westwood Chat

 

Download THIS. modified EXE to fix problems related with x64 architecture, the peaple who uses x86 architecture has to download it too. and copy it where you installed Westwood Chat. (Default is C:\WESTWOOD\WWONLINE)

4° Seting Compatiblity with Windows 95

 

Go in the Westwood Chat folder and right click on WCHAT.EXE, click on Proprieties, and go into compatibility tab. set it to Windows 95 Compatibility mode , and enable "Run it as an Administrator, and click on OK.

5° Open the Router ports*

*=if you use one, obvious, if not, skip that step

topic, if you do not know if you uses a router, still enter on that link.

6° Open the Windows Firewall Ports*

*= if you have Windows firewall enabled, if you not, skip that step, and IF YOU USES AN PERSONAL FIREWALL, DISABLE IT

 

Go into Start Menu, and click on "Control Panel".

Set the View by in Large Icons and click on Windows Firewall.

Click on "Allow Program or feature through Windows Firewall"

Now press "Allow another Program"

Select Westwood Chat in the list and click on Add

7°= Hosting/Joing/Playing

 

Now only open Command & Conquer, and Click on Internet Game

C&C Will Minimize then, the game will launch the Westwood Chat.

If it Show a menssage as "you have to register blah blah blah" click on Cancel, minimize the game and runs Westwood Chat

 

Now, if you have an XWIS Accont, Type the Username and Password here, if not, enter the username and password you would like to use and it will be registered for you

Go into "Games" "Host a Command and Conquer 95 Game" and make sure to untick the "Tournament Match" option. Click the "Start the Game" button after the other player has accepted the game options. In the picture below it is grayed, but it will be clickable once your opponent has accepted the game options:

If you do not want to create a game, you can join a C&C game instead by viewing the open games in the right hand column. Click ‘Accept options’ when you are ready to begin the game:

After the host launches the game both players will see C&C maximize with the following message display:

C&C will then minimize again and Westwood Chat will display the following message:

C&C will then maximize and the user will be in game. If the game does not maximize click the ‘Command & Conquer’ taskbar button to maximize it, If the game don't start in 30 sec., review if you disabled all personal firewalls, Allow the Westwood Chat on Windows Firewall, or if you open all router ports correctly.

After your game ends, restart Westwood Chat and C&C.

WINDOWS 2000 DOES NOT HAVE A COMPATIBILITY TAB, SO, THAT STEP IS ONLY FOR WINDOWS XP RTM OR ABOVE

I want you to keep in mind that you may need to post translations.

 

Overall, it looks like a nice guide.

 

In correct English the title should be "How To Play Command & Conquer TD Through Westwood Chat In Various OS's".

 

the Strike Team server is offline, (idk if it is temporary, or permanent),

 

If this is a fact, this would make this topic completely useless.
