  1. I'm not sure what you mean by your game versions. If you are talking about version 303p, then yes, I have it. I figured it out. raed.exe was not showing the custom missions, because they do not appear unless they have a prefix of "scu". The new custom missions prefix of "CMU" does not appear in the raed.exe window.
  2. I guess no tool exists for viewing maps (sine nobody replied)? :O
  3. Hi GiftS, I just wanted to restate that I am still completely interested in a GDI "After War" campaign. I know you didn't get many comments for the NOD missions and lost interest, but I personally felt they were excellent missions. I always check this forum occasionally, hoping that you have updated this thread. I'm sure there are more interested people as well, but they may not always post. I gave you quite a few comments on page 1, but I'm not sure if you read them. The comments I made were just about possible improvements you could make to the NOD missions. I hope it didn't sound like I was putting down your missions with my "complaints". I was only trying to give constructive criticism, because I liked the missions so much (I normally don't comment at all on the missions I don't like).
  4. So, has this bug been fixed? I wonder how many custom missions this affects...
  5. What is the easiest and quickest way to open up mission files for viewing? Is there a program that can give me a preview pic? At this point, I do not have time to play each and every mission to test the quality, so I'm going to have to judge the maps based on how they look for now. The low-detail maps will be put on hold, while the high-quality maps will be used. I'll start with converting all the maps that appear high-quality, then slowly go through and play them later (which could take a long time). I may release a beta version in the future with converted maps that have not yet been fully tested.
  6. Ok. I am just getting the hang of things, so I can possibly start a compilation on this forum. Can you explain what tutorial.ini is, and why only the first mission in each campaign gets one named after it?
  7. That works, but now none of the dumped files have the .shp extension, which means they will not be read by RA1MissionConverter.exe. I still have to extract the files one at a time to get the .shp extension... I did some testing on this campaign found here: http://ra.afraid.org/download.php/campaigns/ANewEraV20.zip I successfully got the missions to appear in the custom missions list, but on the very first mission (I chose 150), the units were invisible. I believe the invisible units are add-on units. RA1MissionConverter created a bunch of files like "150-a10.shp" that I moved to the Red Alert folder, but it did not work. What am I doing wrong?
  8. How do you extract everything from a MIX file at once using XCC Mixer? I can only seem to extract one file at a time...
  9. I read through the thread and I understand how the tool works, but I have no clue what you and Nyerguds were talking about. Is it something I should be concerned about, or should I just start using the tool to convert some missions? Oh, and the link for the missions that one guy uploaded is dead...
  10. This is a stupid question, but is there a version of this that is NOT standalone? I already have Red Alert 303p installed with the custom missions menu, and I don't want a second folder of it on my HD. I have already customized this install to my liking (including adding some extra music), so I don't feel like customizing another .exe file in a different folder.
  11. It's a shame there is no mega compilation like the "Huge Collection" by Chimas for Tiberian Dawn: http://cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=1786.0 There are so many missions and campaigns laying around, but I don't know how to get them working in the new Red Alert version 303. It's a shame they can't all appear in the new custom missions menu. I would maybe be willing to start a compilation myself, but wouldn't even know where to begin. There are tons of missions and campaigns found at ra.afraid: http://ra.afraid.org/html/downloads/missions.html
  12. Well, I beat it - but it took hundreds of saves/loads. The ending statistics were ridiculous, and made me realize how lousy the scoring system is in C&C. I lost 13 men, and killed 528 (including around 15-20 Mammoth tanks using only a handful of men to do so). I lost 0 buildings (since you don't get buildings in this mission), and destroyed 23. My ending score? 122 measly points. If this had been a real military victory with 528 killed to 13, it would be almost like the 300 Spartans in Thermopylae. XD
  13. Has anyone else played NOD 108: Dr Death by Sunny Lee? Man, that mission seems impossible! I don't know if it is bugged or not, but I only received three commandos, two Stealth Tanks, 11 bazooka men, and a Mammoth Tank. This seems like a lot, but you have to face multitudes of SSM Launchers that you can't reach (which is really unfair), 10-15 Mammoth Tanks, hundreds of enemy bazooka men, chemical troopers, guard towers, and much more. When I reached the enemy base, I received a few more reinforcements that were useless - since they were cut off from my main force back at the start. You have to kill EVERYTHING to win. I beat the other missions by Sunny Lee with no problems at all, and I haven't had a mission stump me like this yet. I know it can be beat if you keep saving/loading until each battle is won without losing any troops, but that is just a stupid way to win a mission. I shouldn't have to save/load much, if at all.
  14. I'm sure Artillery has uses in MP, but in Single Player, I rarely ever find uses for them. Unless a mission starts me out with them, I prefer building Flame Tanks. There might be some custom user-made SP missions that have uses with Artillery, but I have yet to find one... Artillery are so slow and weak, it's easy to neglect them for about a split second during a battle - which is all the time the AI needs to wipe them all out. Also, their terrible accuracy can easily wipe out some of your own infantry if you get distracted and fail to notice them auto-targeting something nearby.
  15. I should probably clarify that my post was not just about which unit is the most useful. I think the flame tank is cool looking, fun to use, and can win missions often. I know the Artillery has its uses, but it just takes so long to get anywhere. I can usually beat a mission in half the time without Artillery.
  16. I'm sure a topic like this has been created at some point or another, but I'm just curious what unit everyone likes the most, and which one they like the least. I've been playing C&C95 since it came out, but never played much multiplayer. As such, I am going by which unit I like/dislike for Single Player only. Favorite Unit: I really enjoy using the flame tank for NOD. It may not be the most powerful unit in the game, but it certainly looks cool, and has plenty of uses. The strategy I often employ in the official NOD missions is to build a small army of light tanks and flame tanks. The flame tanks can take care of all the infantry and most structures, while the light tanks can take care of any enemy vehicles. Flame tanks are much more effective when controlled individually (it's amazing how much damage only one of them can do, as long as you defend it with light tanks). My favorite strategy while attacking a GDI base is to send a flame tank up against each enemy tower, then rush in the light tanks behind them to finish the job. Works every time. The runner-up for favorite unit would of course be the Commando. The commando arguably has more uses than a flame tank, but I just love burning down an army of guys more than I do sniping them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_TdZMX_mzI Least Favorite Unit: The Artillery for NOD. Seriously, they are just way too slow, and have the weakest armor of any vehicle. They are only good for defending a base, but only at the start of a Mission. They can attack if used correctly, but why bother when you can just rush an enemy base with flame tanks and do the job twice as fast? The MLRS for GDI is far better than the Artillery in every way. I guess the runner-up for least favorite unit would be the Apache Helicopter, although it does not get much use at all during the official C&C missions (or else it might be the least favorite on this list). The Apache just isn't at all good at taking out enemy vehicles or structures, which makes it almost useless (especially late in the game).
  17. I think at this point, reinventing the missions is the best way. After all, I doubt anyone else is going to do it! You are the only one making such a great compilation, Chimas.
  18. Actually, I just remembered that it's not a crash. The campaign simply isn't finished, and takes you back to the menu after mission #4 (even though there should be 15 missions or so). It is talked about at the top of page 8: http://cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=1786.105
  19. Good Job, Chimas! I can tell a lot of work has gone in to the Catalog lately. By the way, was Wounded Eagle ever fixed, or does it still crash after mission 4? If it has not been fixed, then I think other missions and campaigns that have not yet been added should take priority. Perhaps Wounded Eagle should even be removed temporarily.
  20. Looking forward to it! I really do like how comprehensive this collection is turning out to be.
  21. Hey Chimas, just letting you know that I am still looking forward to future releases of this!
  22. Hey Chimas, after I completed m-04 of Wounded Eagle, It put me back to the main menu (as if it were the end of the pack). Any idea why it does this?
  23. Nice job on the new releases of the Catalog, Chimas (why did you change your name from Solo, btw?) Out of curiosity, why is the After War campaign by Gifts not included in the Catalog? Didn't you add it? Also, what about all the other new maps on the forum here? Will they be added?
