Well, obviously they knew I was recording and were trying to show-off a little. Also because we have no ladder yet and these games are mostly for practice, people think to themselves "I know I could win the game right now, but I wanna get better at long games, so I will use this opportunity". That being said, as you probably know, going for the KO is not always a safe win, and if it fails, you're probably fcked.

you should be a comedian

oh okay. we should make sure to let people know about this, as most players dont even look in the forums. i think maybe random teams with 2 or 3 seeded pools would be good. for example all the elite players that sign up would be in the same pool, so that they cant get in the same team.

yes, that's challonge.net. However, that's the kind of tournament I dont as bracket tournaments match you up with players/clans and you have to play a certain player/clan before moving onto the next. Due to some people being more active than others, some people will be sitting around waiting and some forfeiting games. if you choose round robin as tournament type, you will get exactly what you are looking for. what would a match look like? a 2v2, a 3v3 and a 4v4? or a best of 3 in each category? or just one game?

The way you guys put it, it sounds way more extreme than i intended it to be - my mistake. remember, we are talking about the ladder here, which is supposed to be for people with a competitive spirit. i think losing should be a motivation to work on yourself. if you get demotivated by heavy losses, you will stop playing the ladder sooner or later anyway.

maybe i am wrong and its different on this server, but my experience has been, that there have been countless players trying to get into the ww community but couldnt. also i think you shouldnt include password protected games in your list. as they are not open for everyone and _most likely_ just a group of friends playing this game a couple of times and not long-time players. oh and btw people really seem to confuse "mod" map with "custom" map. if you just take away the free radar from BBG and the infinite power from conflict they would technically not be mod maps. and i am FOR mod free custom maps to be part of the map pool. as long as there is some kind of community voting or something like that involved.
-
well instead of trying to figure out my intentions, you focus on the words i use and other technicalities. as i am not a native english speaker i have some problems to express what i actually want to say. i have been a modder for most of the time and i can tell you, that most players DONT have a choice. if you are new to this game, you will get kicked from every ww game and will only be exposed to mods. it is hard to get out of that, and most ww players will only give other people a chance if they get points for it.
-
Looks like its impossible to have a discussion with you, so yeah, I'm out.
-
I'm not trying to bash modders here, i just really believe that most of the mod map players never actually had the choice between mods and ww maps. As a new player you pretty much automatically become a modder in most cases. And if someone decided that after 500 games of WW and 500 games of mods, that mods are more interesting, i couldnt care less. But I am convinced, that most players would actually prefer ww maps once they have become decent at them.
-
I have to disagree here. That's not what we are trying to accomplish. A lot of people, myself included, don't care about ranking. I don't even enjoy 1v1. We want to give the mod community an incentive to play WW maps and ultimately convert them to WW players. The problem is that most modders don't know that they would enjoy ww maps. But once you have become good at them, they will understand.

Like most other RTS games, at its very core TS is about economy. There are so many skills that revolve around it, like money management, when to expand, harv control, harv protection, harv hunting... On 99% of all mod maps I know, this is taken away and leaves an empty shell that looks like TS, but doesnt actually have much to do with how the game was meant to be played.

sebs new 3v3 map is not an original ww map, but also not modded. its getting more popular by the day and we should make sure that our map pool wont be exclusively official ww maps. having the ability to maybe get a map into the pool by a community vote could also motivate other players to make new tournament maps.

update: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbhDUVh8cp0&index=1&list=PLeYx3cu8N-GinO83Vn5nm9Sa_P7YwsrT0 tried to record some games on other maps, such as drawbridges, atombombu and the new nameless 6er map. changed format from 720p/60fps to 1080p/30fps. if you see the difference, let me know what you like better. the scrolling issue is kinda back, but it doesnt look too bad. on the upside, you can now actually read what people say

kapa/finecigar vs sol/ray: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PWOyWjta3I well, this is what it looks like if you get carried by ray! tons of mistakes on my side, really not happy with myself

what makes terrace so interesting over all the mod maps and most other ww maps is that everyone has to expand towards the middle. the longer the game goes, the closer your base will be to your enemies base, the more intense the game is gonna get. on mod maps its the opposite: the first 3 minutes can be pretty interesting, depending on peoples build orders, and then it gets boring. they might look different but they're actually all the same. infinite money in the base, one small entrance. what is inbetween doesnt matter if you dont have to expand out. on the other hand, for an experienced player, every spot on terrace kinda feels like a different map with the same playstyle. the ultimate argument: DO PEOPLE PLAY DIFFERENT MAPS IN CHESS?!

in that scenario the first thing you wanna do when the MK has been released is to put the carry back on top ASAP. you cant do that if you have to attack with it first.
-
??? its the only thing that makes an MK actually useful. it is BY FAR the best mechanic in the game.

i did. and i dont see any lies. maybe its because my english sucks and you dont understand what i mean

i was stuck in the middle between the good and the bad players for almost 10 years. LOL thats one of the biggest problems we have. keep trying, dont give up, and ask better players to teach you. some people will help you
