Ping issue

Adrian

Question

Hello!

I always get [Very Bad Conn] even though I opened port 8054 in the router and in the firewall. My ISP provides me with a 3 megas bandwith, do I need more for this 8bitgame???

Using torrents my average DL speed is 400kb/s, with many many seeders I can climb up to 800kb/s at the most.

3 mbit is enough for whatever game you play on CnCNet none of which are 8-bit. Though for todays Internet that speed is pretty slow regardless.

But connection is not only about speed, but latency. If you like somewhere with a bad route to CnCNet you still get a bad connection.

Should I get more internet or a better router?? When I log in from my job I get very good connection.

Very helpful, ty!!

A new router will not fix the issue. Using a VPN might.

With route I mean the actual route the packets take. This could be dependent on your ISP or simply where you live. Your work place might have a better ISP or simply be positioned better so you get better latency from there.

type "/ping google.com" in the game lobby to make sure the ping test is working

if it says 4 times N/A then something is blocking it and it will show "very bad" all the time even if your connection is good

It always says N/A, can it be fixed? Something with the firewall?
