Hi I was wondering would it be a good idea to instead have cncnet in a separate folder for the original westwood c&cs its a bit messy having it in every game folder wouldn't it be better to have it just once in a separate folder to the games?

For Red Alert 2 it would be an advantage since it's mostly installed in the program files folder and it could allow playing without admin rights maybe.

For the other games it's pretty bad though cause cncnet makes the folders portable, they're all meant to run off a usb-stick perfectly fine (including having all your settings and maps on the usb-stick too)

Isn't that just the feature of your distributions? TD and RA1 don't even need the registry keys to begin with, IIRC.

Yes, I think there was only one useful registry key to enable the aftermath expansion

Having no cncnet files in the folder at all might take a lot effort, but I'll write it down and do some tests when I got time
