Yeah, as Jacko said, a certain percentage is carried over. The campaign seems to contain strategically placed baseless missions to reset that, making sure you can't simply harvest tons in the first missions and keep carrying large chunks of that over all the way to the end. Hmm... I'll have to check that out. It just happens that I'm currently on THAT 7th mission... before I even read about this!
-
Are you saying that if you blow up the airstrip in Mission 6, you will skip to Mission 8 with the default amount of credits to begin with... but if you blow up the wrong building, play Mission 7, harvest as much money as you can before completing Mission 7, then begin Mission 8 with whatever you earned in Mission 7?
-
I've done that one before. That's something they should implement more often... where you have to work harder if you fail a mission or parts of a mission.
-
That's new to me! I almost did it but didn't. Now, I know to do it next time! With this in mind, are there any other similar missions where you have to do something specific within a level to unlock a secret mission?
-
Hmm... aren't we missing a few? The Covert Operations, Counterstrike, The Aftermath, and Retaliation? Let's not forget those secret missions... Dinosaurs and Giant Ants! (They probably don't really matter as they're part of The Covert Operations and Counterstrike.

Maybe, that's why they designed it that way? If you beat the game one way, it's done. If you beat the game the other way, it leads to a sequel. If they were to make a sequel to every ending, we would have 2 endings in Red Alert, 2 editions of Red Alert 2 with a total of 4 endings, and 4 editions of Red Alert 3 with 16 different endings. Yikes!

How about making the damage based on distance, the number of units, and the type of unit. It inflicts more damage as the unit gets closer. It can reach out 3 spaces at one time, 2 spaces in 2 places, and 1 space in 4 places. Kinda like 1 long arm, 2 medium arms, or 4 short arms. (This would be strategy for mass attack.) If the unit is metal, it can pass the shock on to other nearby units. Depending on the metal, it could decrease or amplify the shock. If the unit is rubber-insulated, then no shock.

"had" "have" Whatever... you know what I mean. What secret power grid mission?
-
Remember when Tiberian Dawn had those secret dinosaur missions and Red Alert had those secret giant ants missions? If Westwood (and EA) had continued to implement secret missions to Red Alert 2, Tiberian Sun, Generals, etc... what secret missions do you think would have worked out well or fit the theme of those games?
-
EA messed up everything that was intended by Westwood. Who knows what Westwood's original plan was when they created the series?

Red Alert 2 has that? I know Red Alert 3 has it. How does that work?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xH9ZYNJIUW8 tested it on juggs in that match. tried it with mlrs on ground units. doesnt seem like itll win you the game maybe very small fights at most. not really worth it in my opinion. i mean maybe for a tiny bit of edge but its certainly not effective enough overall to win a match. Video doesn't work?

Here is a link: http://www.achrongame.com/site/ How about choices of advancement for your veteran units. For example, your hoover mrls has gained 2000 XP by destroying an heavy factory. However, it is up to the player to decide to spend this on what? extra health? more damage? perhaps 1 extra rocket? Better range then? How about making this one faster. Any way, after choosing something, this costs XP. And the whole list (or most of the list) of choices becomes more expensive. Players should also be able to decide on before hand, so that it goes automatically when the XP is reached. ProjectY has this. It is pretty cool since some players actually spend time training their units. On the other hand, it is very addictive, spending all XP on 1 unit. That actually sounds like something that could be put into an adventure version of Command & Conquer. Know those games like Elder Scrolls, Fable, Fallout, etc? How about one for Command & Conquer. It doesn't have to be directly military where you're building bases, but can be something where you take a role of someone who decides to take sides depending on how you play. There could be quests that lead you to the NOD side, the GDI side, the Mutants side, etc. You gain access to different technology. You go on missions or quests to assassinate different people such as lieutenant, general, commander, etc. You start the game as a civilian. You go through town. There's a news report of a meteorite that hit in River Tiber. You can become a scientist and research the tiberium. You can remain a civilian and join the army, which eventually becomes GDI. You can catch someone talking about NOD and get yourself into that. You get yourself exposed to the tiberium and become a mutant. You end up in a town that's taken over by viceroids. The possibilities are limitless?

Some ideas were shared here... http://cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=3414.0 Were you thinking of a new faction in Red Alert, Generals, Tiberium saga, etc? With Red Alert, there were two factions... Allies and Soviets... with sub-factions being different countries within each faction. They did have a separate non-national faction in Red Alert 2... Yuri. With the Tiberium saga, they had GDI and NOD... then Mutants... then Scrin. Now, the series is KAPUT. If they were to create a whole new series, then you could create some new factions with different stuff within each of them.

It can always be optional. In order to enable that option, you would have to have the game check the computer's clock. You could make it a drop menu with something like CURRENT/DAWN/MORNING/NOON/AFTERNOON/TWILIGHT/EVENING/MIDNIGHT. The same goes for weather. What was that game?
-
How about making it optional? Let's suppose you're playing against a player named HAVOX. HAVOX leaves the game. A pop-up appears, "HAVOX has left the game. Do you want to continue with HAVOX as computer? YES/NO" You select NO. HAVOX's base blows up. Game is over. You select YES. Another pop-up appears, "What difficulty? EASY/MEDIUM/HARD" (Whatever the difficulty levels are.) The game continues. Or... just make it part of the game set-up when you're joining the game. Add a checkbox that only applies to the player joining the game, not everyone in the game. That option enables auto-AI in case computer quit. It can be a drop menu instead with something like NONE/EASY/MEDIUM/HARD with NONE causing the base to blow up and EASY/MEDIUM/HARD causing the computer to take over at that specific difficulty level.

That's a good idea. And the secret mission would be the fifth dimension where your secret character would be Mister Mxyzptlk!!!

Okay, so it's not a "great" idea. How about seasonal games or environmental games? The game varies on when you play it. For instance, you play the game at noon during the summer in a place where you're having high temperatures, drought alerts, and high winds (based on local weather report). The map will appear where the land is brownish (less or no grass), waterways are minimal (creeks instead of rivers), it's daytime and sun is out, etc. Due to the high temperatures, some infantry fight differently due to weather conditions. Some waterways will reveal pathways that infantry or vehicles can cross. Tiberium infestation is different. Air units fly faster or slower depending on the direction of the wind. Since it's hotter and windy, flame damage can easily spread to other buildings forcing us to rethink our strategy for placing buildings next to each other and not downwind from another building. If you played at night time where it's darker and cooler, you might have better advantage. If you play during a rainstorm, waterways are wider blocking off some access... and flamethrowers' weapons are not very effective. Rain might even reduce fire damage to buildings and units. You play in the dark, you have limited vision and night lights. If you played in the winter, waterways will be frozen and you can actually cross lakes and rivers. Of course, the colder it is... the stronger the ice is. If you're not too careful, your tank could sink. Think of that one mission in Generals where you blow the dam and one waterway slowly reveals a narrow pathway for walking on. However, during the mission... that pathway widens.

I was replaying Tiberian Dawn the other day and while watching the mission select screen (you see the Earth rotating, then a grid appears, zooms in, country boundaries outlined, GDI/NOD progression colored, etc), I suddenly thought of this... why not make the game maps in spherical format? Know how we have Google Earth? Why not make the game that way? The view of the map will change depending on how you scroll around the maps. For instance, if place a building at one location... scroll to the right until I'm 1/4 around the globe... scroll up until I'm 1/4th around the globe... then scroll to the left until I'm 1/4th around the globe. I'll be right back where I started... except that the building will be rotated 90 degrees clockwise. You could attack your enemies from any direction. While all of this may sound confusing, it does force us to think harder instead of focusing only one side or one view. Of course, you can always set it up so that the map only shows you with NORTH being up.

I agree. I've seen this abused in Counterstrike. During my days in college, there was one guy on my dorm floor who had 2 computers. He set up one for himself to play online and another as a spectator. As a spectator, he could see everything that was happening around him. In fact, with this feature... one could do it with a desktop and laptop. Sign online as a player on the desktop. Sign online as a spectator on the laptop. Then you simply look back and forth... cheating.

Is it possible to run CnCNet from a USB flash drive? Let's say I download all the files necessary for installation. Can I install everything to a USB flash drive, then just take that with me wherever I go? For instance, I go to the library to work on their computer for a research project. I need a break. I pull out my flash drive and run it. Can that be done?
