Like I've said you need to witness it in game. Perhaps watch some pro vs pro YouTube videos there's plenty about.

My mistake (I thought 600), but thisstill means a fully equipped BF costs 4,000 and 4-5 tanks is about the same if not less. 60% of maps money is inside of base? Not sure where you got this statistic from but it's false. But even if it were true..have you heard of splitting...? This isn't really up for debate tbh lol. It's proven historically if you go and look at all the YR hall of games on XWIS over the past 10 years. The majority are soviet players. Ask any seasoned YR player and they will tell you soviets are easy to use vs allieds. If you are playing sov properly your aim should probably be not to let the allied player even get the chance to build a battle fortress. Like I said. It's difficult to explain everything over a forum but if you want games online at some point I will show you.

4-5 tanks when used correctly > BF He's spamming gis/ggis to stop an early rhino press? Let him waste money on a ggi which costs 75% of the cost of one of your rhino tanks and take1 deso with you... Go for his miners A battle fortress costs 2k but a further 3k to fill it with ggi's. Just some points. I can show you online at some point if you'd like. You are basing your opinion after just 2-3 weeks online play. Once you get know the game better and perhaps play with decent players this may change.

This is pretty much all wrong. Soviets were the favoured faction amongst the majority of pros for a reason.

Suggestions and feedback needed for the Yuri's Revenge CnCNet 5 client

Ladder isnt the only reason players cheat. That is demonstrated by the number of players getting banned on XWIS for cheating in non ranked games. -
The videobackbuffer thing i have already toggled and tested in skirmish. I have even gone as far as putting detail level on its lowest setting and unchecking use graphics patch- no change. One thing i havent tried is lowering my resolution- but i dont really want to have to do this. I'll have a look at ddraw.dll when im next on. The reason i said it might have actually been me, is people said it got better when i left- but i think this is the case when nearly any players leaves the game- speed increases. They later said they were still having laggy games. Could it be the client wasnt designed for XP?

If it is me what could be causing me to lag here but not on other servers?
-
So i posted this elsewhere in other topics but the issue seems to have not been picked up on. I had been noticing sporadic lag in games but tonight was on a whole different level- much higher then we experienced on XWIS. The game would occasionally speed up for several seconds to a decent speed and then go back to lagging to the extreme which was unplayable. Most games must have averaged between 30-35 FPS. This was not in all games and we have had some games on CnCnet with very decent speeds. However, all games tonight were horrible. I know everyone in the game has a sufficiently good connection to not cause such extreme lag from playing with them on XWIS. And i know people have configured their client to the best settings. Is there anything else we can do as players? Do the selection of tunneling servers make a difference? Is there anything that could be improved server side? Why is the game not running at such a speed as say Gameranger? Players are coming across from other servers such as gameranger where they play with zero lag and complaining of speed issues (several players actually left 2 nights ago for this reason). Suggestions? Hope this can be fixed or improved, either by our actions or improving the server.

It rarely happened in my experience. And if it did only when the game had been won and everyone declared war for a bit of a laugh! -

I have never encountered that being an issue on other servers. I just assumed as it was an in-game feature and cncnet is an external client it was more complex to add. I'm pretty sure if you put this to other players, the overwhelming majority would want this feature added. Certainly speaking for the XWIS players at least. Not only is it an important feature if you wish to randomise teams and spots- it gets games going faster as in bigger games especially, teaming people up can be a pain! -
I use it (and am sure others do too), without any problems

The ability to team in game (and therefore the ability to start a match with random spots and teams) is something i would really like to see added. -

whilst engineering is lame it has been a consistent feature throughout Ra2 and YR history. I don't see any harm in making it default tho i guess. -
Unfortunately I don't think there are any 'pro' yuri faction players left.

Build off ally should be on by default imo. It is on by default in the original game and I hadn't experienced this being different until playing on CNCnet. I always assume it is on and am sure everyone else also does that plays/played on XWIS. In team games it can be (and should be) key, after all you are all 'in it together'. A particular tactic in clan matches was even for both players to build off of one mcv if you got certain starting positions. -
V3's and crazy Ivan's are used quite often in top tier games and on certain maps.

+virus and/or mind control This is why the iron curtain is crucial, but even then as i pointed out i think yuri is op against sovs.

I don't really want to get into a long debate right now but i'm sure you know there's more to it then that, but just quickly on the points you raised: 1 Gat (cheap) > 1 chopper (expensive) Robot tanks are good yes but are weak as fuck I remember a topic solely on how op' boomers were. Yes subs and dest are good counters but for the same price as a dred/ aircraft carrier, yuri has the same but also the ability to attack naval units, and at a much earlier stage in the tech tree. For that reason imo it should cost more, or be moved further down the tech tree. Im not sure i agree with you that allies superweapons > yuri. Genetic mutator= infinite money and dominator does similar damage as weather storm but also takes over units. The iron curtain is obviously crucial for sovs vs yuri. That one advantage you speak of is quite a big one imo, especially on a map with limited resources where yuri can just camp as needed. Its near impossible to press on certain maps were yuri can just camp without needing to expose himself to get to ore fields- I have personally been involved in 'quick' match games running 1 hour + as it was near impossible to break a yuri camp down in certain cases. I would also take sov, but that is because i haven't mastered yuri. I think if you took players of equal level of skill (for all factions- hard to come by), more often then not yuri would come out on top. A lot of good yuri players were bang average or certainly not as good with the other factions. I know most people have a favoured faction but yuri players struggled to adapt for a reason. There were some fairly well thought out topics and posts from ST put forward back in the day, maybe i'll dig out at some point.

I think thats still an opinion no matter how logically you explain it. As i'm sure you know, there was a general consensus years ago (even amongst the pro's) that yuri was over powered, especially against sovs and on the majority of maps. There were some exceptions but the majority agreed. I don't think it is as much of an imbalance as everyone makes out, but a few tweaks are needed imo. The maps were partly addressed in the YR QM renovation on XWIS but obviously the profiles of any of the units weren't changed.

Xwis version works fine with cncnet

Played a lot last night with same people. Got some good speeds but sometimes lag. It seems variable even with same players. Definitely can notice a different between 4,6 and 8 players games most of the time, even with players I know have good connections. Seems luck of the draw half the time. Could there be factors not to do with players connections but server side that could be improved? I'm no tech head so don't know. It definitely seems to be me factors are causing lag in some cases that aren't related to players connections or else it would be happening on XWIS with those players as well. Regardless you guys are doing s great job. Have really bought yuris back from the dead. Throughly enjoyed myself last night - so much nostalgia ! I'd happily take that for a few laggy games- but hopefully continuous improvement will make the experience even better!

Desolator is key for sov vs yuri. Unless you are a lot more skilled than the yuri player you can forgot about beating him with soviets without them.
