Cnc1 remasters tactics advice and 1st impressions?
Tiber Shark replied to Tiber Shark's topic in C&C 1
The positives are More time to think, less of a reactions game. Its a leisurely pleasure to play now there's so little to do and its so slow, and you dont have to use difficult low res controls People are winning because of skill rather than because of having better settings and its fair because we all have the same settings and the same odds You can just learn and progress much faster cause there's always people to play now and you are matched at your level, Can choose start pos and teams 1st There are no mods or controlling people anymore, its a free place now which is epic Bottom advantage may have been fixed which is great Quality music displays graphics and general overhaul, very impressive Ranking is included so there's no confusion over who is better or worse (well this will be true in time) The graphics are much nicer to look at -
Cnc1 remasters tactics advice and 1st impressions?

Im finding its a VERY scrappy affair the low money only allows for very few buildings low tech and scrappy buggy fights. Its not broad or varied anymore. Its like 1/10th the game im used to. Also I swear there's even less money than the original, im running out much faster. Click and deselect lags If you try to select a group box from the edge of the screen you cant which is awkward. Sell and repair isnt as fast neither in team selection regarding engineer rushes it does this horrible jump sometimes of the entire screen, that causes a frustrating fail game speed is too slow it changes the dynamic from the real game , cheese tactics seem more viable now and more powerful than before because the money SEEMS less speed was a big asset for me thats now gone nearly completely and of course 4 player only These are my negs -
No money, lots of cheese warfare, original maps, a different style of game. What builds and tactics do you recommend? How is it different to the original cnc? What are your general impressions positive and negative? Anything else ud like to say go ahead re remasters cnc1.

Is Mike Pence an average to low player in Tiberium Sun like he is in Tiberium Dawn or is he higher up than that?

Engineers are "easily" blocked by placing buggies between the top of a building and the APC, a turret or tower on top also helps. Once its defended, you are now at the disadvantage. Used along side an attack group is better, but by that time its harder to make them work and less significant anyway. You engineer oriented style shows an inferior German tactical fail, you chose a lower % method.

I got my hands on tiberium dawn remasters early!
Tiber Shark replied to Tiber Shark's topic in C&C 1
joke of course they did an excellent job, but it feels a bit different atm, no 6 player and the horrible standard maps, it is still more enjoyable at cnc.net with the big games and better maps, but they still did a fantastic job and maybe it will grow on me , right now its ideal for my life not so great that it will addict me, but nice for a casual spin i think despite it being less enjoyable atm at least, everyone is now at remasters so its the only place to be. Its kinda lame having more people but u still have to play like there's not many people in the lobby e.g. 1v1 or 2v2 kinda defeats the point of having more players, it feels like eternal non peak time We had more fun here and unless they change that, it will remain this way. Mixed feelings they did great but 4 player is such a drag. The release of the source code is somethings special for the future, but the distribution of players now is going to be all over at remasters -
https://youtu.be/KLnW56DjQtw?t=78 Its looking brill, nice colors, only 4 players though. Some in game footage for you guys. Who is moving over to remasters, who is staying here?

What does this mean for cnc.net and remasters?

Which sidebar is better for competitive play? New or old?
Tiber Shark replied to Tiber Shark's topic in C&C 1
Ah I guess you are right and I am wrong, thanks, so basically we have more hotkeys to learn, and the better players will shift to the new layout. -
Will the remasters allow for mods and maps like this to be moved over? Or will they be incompatible? Very impressive btw
-
I have played other command and conquer games with this side bar and they would be slower if it wasn't for the build ques. They may be 4 additional hotkeys to learn which will increase speed also, but not something Id want to have to do. But am I right to think the old sidebar is faster and what the better players will be using? I was told there will be an option for either the new or old sidebar but I may be wrong.

Hopefully those options extend to map size and number of players too. You have to hand it to EA they have been paying close attention to the community and what we are doing. Thanks for the post -
Cnc TD Remaster = Only 4 player games, idiot harvs
Tiber Shark replied to Hungry Mike's topic in C&C 1
Very well said, keeps the classic how it is, if you want 4 players and a small map you can have that, so it stays authentic and true to the old game, but also updates it to modern standards so glitches or old limited features are gone. How hard is it to get it right when you have a 22.1 billion dollar company. I frequently see just normal fans do a better job of it than multi billion dollar companies with content that people like/want. Im stunned that they can be so out of touch with the reality of what the fans want. I know we all want different things but what you described caters to everyone or the highest number of people, including the minority of fanatics who want it exactly how it was almost. Its simple obvious a perfect answer. I mean its what Westwood did with RA1 almost, and that was originally just an add on to tiberium dawn anyway. (the rest of the rts games out just after ra1 and c&c1 did the same thing bigger maps more players less glitches better ai) -

I just made a mock up 8 player map on the tiny TD maps you can make it work still and even have plenty of money and good looking terrain , I mean its probably not hard for them to add map sizes but even if they couldn't its not that hard to make an 8 player map work on these tiny maps, I think there are ra1 maps with the same dynamic going on, yea its not ideal but its another flavor of map to play on, and if they can put a skirmish ai in they can easily give us bigger custom maps, surely? See the mock up 4v4 tiberium dawn map below its alot more spacious seeming in the real game, and look plenty of room even with big bases and all units built you can maneuver everyone has enough cash, it can be pretty , there's terrain and path directions and thats on these tiny maps If we dont voice it now it may be fixed as 4 for good and if it is we have the better product here at cnc.net in terms of a multiplayer format -

I mean they put skirmish in the game, red alert 1 is a similar engine, why cant they allow bigger custom maps and more players ? Surely thats alot easier to implement than skirmish? You can still get everything on the map without it looking silly in 6 player maps, at a push you could do it with 8 people on these tiny maps there would just be less money to go around, even with a massive need for extra tiberium 6 player still works well. See some of the well made 6 player custom maps, its still quite spacious with plenty of room for high tiberium and money Also who says crowded is a bad thing? You could say space and sparse is a bad thing and crowded is action packed and stimulating to our lower brain. Nearly everyone enjoys more players and are disappointed by 4. While the original maps dont work so well with higher numbers they still work, they also dont function as good maps period so I can see their intention, but its clear they have got it wrong on this one, from a popular opinion standpoint and even from a debate/argument standpoint ie it makes more sense to have bigger maps with more players for custom options. If I was over at EA running things id have it open as 8 players, have the option to make larger maps with the map editor, and put a note warning players that some maps are made with a specific lower number of players in mind the official ones or have a folder for lower number intended maps . That way you get the best of both worlds. I mean you or you guys made it 6 player here at cnc.net yourself? A few EA made tournament maps wouldnt be a bad option either because its a bit silly having a ranked game on a map where a win is decided by start position. Even if that means just modifying existing maps to make them more balanced/even. I appreciate you are very into the original game but you must admit it was early days and they hadnt got the formula down as well as later iterations of RTS games, not in every aspect!?
