I do believe that it makes you a better player and I do personally play Brutal/Ultra AI in order to improve my skills (note that I hold several RA2 RaNk #1s but playing against Ultra/"Smart" AI constantly improves my skill). He does have a point that if you can't beat a (medium) computer you probably have no business in playing real people, which you're probably gonna accuse of cheating and disconnect once they walk over you.
