I actually like it as is. Many times I make a room with 8 slots for a 2v2 map so I don't have to remake it if I want to play on bigger maps later on, and when too many join too fast I must kick them if they don't leave after being asked to and refuse to at least spec. If the lobby auto-unlocked I would have to always lock again, but in that short timeframe someone might join (happens more than you'd expect). So as is is beneficial in a lot of cases, and the other way would be worse than as it is now. And let's face it, one more tickable stuff would make room creation even more cluttered than is right now...

What's your version? Please upload your client.log file Newest version supposedly. Can't upload it, I have already opened the client again since then, so that one is overwritten. If I ever trigger it again, gonna upload it. Keep in mind that the client needs to send a lot of data (game options, player sides/colors/teams/starts etc.) to the server when you're hosting a game, even if you wouldn't chat at all. So if you flood the chat a lot, you can get the client to send too much data to the server, resulting in the server kicking you. It's also not only "512 bytes in 8 seconds" that triggers it, but you can also trigger it by sending too much data over a longer time. By sending one long message every 2.5 seconds you'll get kicked after a minute or two, for example. In other words, GameSurge has some more complex system where you can accumulate the "flood" over a longer time and get kicked that way, in addition to getting kicked if you flood too much in a few seconds. Now, you might ask why the client allows you to flood so much. The reason is that I don't precisely know how GameSurge's flood detection system works. The client already throttles itself to make the "flood" kick rare; most of the time the client will only send 1 packet every 2.5 seconds, so if you for example flood the chat a lot, the other players will receive your messages at a much slower pace than you've sent them, approximately 1 message every 2.5 seconds. (As the game host the time can be longer, because the data packets for game options and player options are also taken into account in the client's flood-throttling mechanism). In nearly all cases this throttling is enough for keeping you on the server, but if you chat a lot in addition to hosting a game, you can occasionally trigger the GameSurge flood detection mechanism and get yourself kicked. Well, that explains it. Thanks. Gonna try to throttle down a notch on my talking when hosting. A bit. -

Well, just something interesting: I keep getting kicked for Excess Flood. AFAIK it's supposed to be 512 bytes in 8 seconds where this triggers (gamesurge default). Well, assuming cncnet uses 16 bit chars (and I guess it only uses , that's still 256 chars in 8 seconds. Even if for some reason half of it is color and other stuff, especially when I'm hosting, that's still 128 chars I need to type in 8 seconds. Well, I can manage about half of that only in that much time (about 60ish, maybe if I go hardcore I can reach 70, but that's my absolute peak). So why do I keep getting it? (Only today, I got it 3 times in 20 minutes). -

Guess it doesn't work for us yet then. :puppydog: Well, at least it's found out now, so it's surely going to be fixed soon. ^^- 6 replies

Nice, just what we need. ^^ Glad we got this, thanks for implementing it. However, I have one problem: I registered, tried to use the command with the temporary password, but it didn't work. The command was correct, used it on 3 different bots, but I don't get any reaction. Nothing. The command was correctly entered, so that's definitely not the issue. Any ideas?- 6 replies

Ah, ok. Didn't know that. @Grant I was told maybe you could help out.

Ok, so I made a post about this already with Balrog17 being impersonated. I got an answer that some admins could do something maybe. Great. Sadly, I can't reach anyone. Tried Ferret on Discord, but they haven't answered yet (after several hours). And things are getting out of hand... [FUN]MV and Balrog17 are already being impersonated. Currently, there are only 3 Balrog17 players online, Balrog17_ being the real one. There is a [FUN]MV impersonator online too. That's at least 3 people impersonating others. Balrog and MV are friends. So am I a friend of his, and some other people. It's only time before these people will start impersonating all of us. I am NOT kidding or overreacting when I say, I SERIOUSLY NEED ADMIN SUPPORT ON THIS ONE. I need at least some way of at least contacting a group of admins. The fact that I can contact an admin who is supposedly online and then not having ANY reaction for 4 hours straight is unacceptable. I am talking in the name of the whole community when I say we seriously need a good way of contacting admins. I will have the real Balrog17 use his forum profile comment as soon as this post is approved my a mod, just to show that I am not making this shit up, it's happening. For the approving moderator/admin: Please relay this to other admins too so they see it. Some assholes got into our little community who enjoy griefing and being overall destructive. Let's face it, the community is almost a little family in a sense, and people like these impersonators have nothing to do in it. But the only ones who can ACTUALLY do ANYTHING about it are you with power.

I see. Sadly, nobody was online at the time in those 4-5 hours the impersonator was. :/ Guess I need to catch him red handed with an admin online.
-
No admin was online at the time (aside from the 3 bots, ofc), so that's why I am posting here. So today I found an impersonator, which, as far as I know, is illegal on CNCnet. I am XHUNterX (obviously), impersonator is Balrog17 there (while impersonating, the real one was online as Balrog17_ at the time). I don't know if you can catch them by this only, so I added them to my friendlist. I don't know how it's implemented, but I hope it helps in any way whatsoever.

Personally think that would be awesome, but only if the player is told the hotkeys. I personally just found out there is a hotkey for placing buildings. Would improve the skill of quite some people.
