FoutVarken Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 Hi, When I start a LAN game, I get the new lobby nowadays (which is great). However in LAN mode I see also all the online internet players and their games in the lobby. I would like so see only the players and games in my LAN. How can this be done? regards, Erwin
0 FunkyFr3sh Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 It is possible, but you would need to host an irc server at home and use it as chat server It might be possible to include a whole server inside of the lobby but i didnt tried that out yet
0 FoutVarken Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 I can still use the old lobby for LAN. Play Red Alert -> Multiplayer Game -> Network. But it would be nice if the new lobby did not show all internet players in LAN mode. regards, Erwin
0 Nyerguds Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 So, just... start the game without CnCNet then? I honestly don't see the problem.
0 FoutVarken Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 I like to use the new lobby also for Network (LAN). During a LAN party I don't want to see the Internet players/games/messages.
0 FunkyFr3sh Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 i write it down, not sure yet what im going to do (an active internet connection will still be needed even if i hide the online games/players cause of the mapDB)

0 FoutVarken Posted November 23, 2013 Author Posted November 23, 2013 Not meant for? When you press the "Network (LAN)" button on the cncnet red alert launcher you are redirected to the new lobby nowadays. So I think that most people who want to play LAN now end up in the new lobby. After selecting Online or LAN in the launcher, you have to select again Online or LAN in the small login window. I think a selection in the launcher should be enough. regards, Erwin
0 Iran Posted November 23, 2013 Posted November 23, 2013 Like FunkyFr3sh said the Internet connection is needed for sharing maps/map transfers (which are done automatically in the background so you don't notice) for maps players don't have but the host has. This might be an issue, but the suggestion itself is what the desirable behavior would be (hiding online players and games, and just showing LAN nes).

So I think that most people who want to play LAN now end up in the new lobby. Fine, so they shouldn't put a LAN button on the cncnet launcher at all then without separating the lobbies properly. I'd just start the game directly; it's not like you can't share those maps manually if the other people you play with are in the same building.
