mralexs Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 I just updated to the new version and the game crashes whenever I launch it with error 005e56dc Link to my dump file https://www.dropbox.com/s/kjlutzy7ir1ihn2/ra95crash.dmp
Iran Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 The game crashes cause it can't find/load TEMPERAT.PAL from the looks of it.
Tore Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Which means that your game got broken during the update for some reason. Download again.
mralexs Posted November 26, 2013 Author Posted November 26, 2013 Did a fresh install this time with a different mirror, still gives me the same error, and it is saying there is an update for 1.16, but then when I update it, it says there are no new updates and rolls it back to 1.11
FunkyFr3sh Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 do you run/install it as admin ? what about your antivirus programs ? if it cant find the TEMPERAT.PAL then it prolyl doesnt have the permission to create it
mralexs Posted November 26, 2013 Author Posted November 26, 2013 I ran it as an admin, should I check if the folder is read-only?
Allen508 Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 The temperat.pal is found in the local.mix that is packed in the REDALERT.mix. If he has the REDALERT.mix then he has the temperat.pal and something else has gone haywire...
FunkyFr3sh Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 he is using ra1installer, it is using the original mix files and the game tries to generate the TEMPERAT.PAL and fails that also explains why it shows version 1.11 for him, the launcher doesnt have the needed access to read the file that contains the update information
Allen508 Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 The game generates TEMP_VTX.PAL, SNOW_VTX.PAL and INTR_VTX.PAL. The temperat.pal snow and interior.pal have always been in the local.mix.
FunkyFr3sh Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 ah right, i forgo the names but arent those the same files ?
Allen508 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Nope. XCC Mixer can read C&C .pal and JASC (paintshop) .pal but the *NAME*_VTX.PAL are unknow to XCC Mixer and I have no idea what they do...
Iran Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 They're the remap tables for the Chrono Vortex, the game checks if the file exists if it doesn't generates them. I suggest placing the files in REDALERT.MIX to lower startup times.
