digifred Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 I'm using the rules.ini file to change some values in the game and it all seems to be working except for the cost of the allies rocket soldiers. No matter what value I put, the price of the unit in the game stays at 300. What can I do?
Nyerguds Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 Are you starting the game through cncnet to test that? Because it has its ways to make sure no changes are made in the game. Make sure you simply start the game normally.
digifred Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 I tried launching directly but nothing changed.
Nyerguds Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 You launched RA95.exe? And rules.ini is in the game folder as bare file?
digifred Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 i launched RA95.exe and placed the modified ini in the game folder. I can see most of the values have changed to the desired ones except for the one i mentioned.
digifred Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 ; rocket soldier [E3] Primary=RedEye Secondary=Dragon Strength=45 Armor=none TechLevel=2 Sight=4 Speed=3 Owner=allies Cost=20 Points=10 DoubleOwned=yes
digifred Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 removing that line didn't change anything in the game.
FunkyFr3sh Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 DoubleOwned is a somewhat pointless key and it was causing some bugs (out of sync in LAN), so i thought it might have something to do with it anyways, .. cost of the allies rocket soldiers... There is no allies rocket soldier, both soviet and allies use the same section ... did you maybe copy the section to give each side a different price ? that is not going to work, each section name must be unique and if there are multiple sections with the same name then one of them is getting ignored
digifred Posted July 10, 2014 Author Posted July 10, 2014 Are you sure of this? I didn't change anything but the cost of the unit. If you hover over the unit in the game it says rocket soldier.
Allen508 Posted July 10, 2014 Posted July 10, 2014 The aftrmath.ini has the E3 data too. If he is playing a AM game aftrmath.ini will need to be edited.
digifred Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 I'm just playing the original missions from the RA game.
Allen508 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 I know that PortableRA has use Aftermath units during original missions option. If you using PortableRA check to see if it is on.
digifred Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 i used the installer from funkyfresh and a game image of RA.
FunkyFr3sh Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 well, if atrmath.ini got the [e3] section too then you gotta modify that file as well! here it is: http://funkyfr3sh.cncnet.org/files/aftrmath.ini gonna add it to ra1installer on the next update too
digifred Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 It has the E3 section. I will add it to the folder and see what it does when i modify it.
Jacko Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 it might be easier to just delete the [e3] section from aftermth.ini
digifred Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 It works now with the aftermath file added and and the [E3] section removed. Thank you for the knowledge.
