0 FunkyFr3sh
What installer did you use? (filename?) Does it happen right when you start the installer or does it happen when you click on the "Install" button inside of the installer?
0 Blarg227
Here is what it's called: TiberianSun_Online_Installer.exe Also, it does this immediately upon clicking on it.
0 FunkyFr3sh
Not sure what it could be, I guess we can enable the logging and see what exactly happens. Do you know how to start a program with parameters? If you do, start the installer using this parameter: /LOG="TiberianSun.log" If you don't know how to do it, then download the following batch file and place it in the same directory as the installer, use the batch file to start it up. It will create a log file named TiberianSun.log https://f5158ae95c0b14bbdeb4b5e5d93f94e4ebc9b66d.googledrive.com/host/0B5by5H1Q2PxEVDYtM0tPTWMtRlU/TiberianSun_Online_Installer_log.bat
0 Blarg227
I tried using the batch file to open it and for some reason, it won't create a log file. I couldn't even find the log file in a different directory. It simply wont create one. Could you tell me how to run the installer with the parameters? My only assumption on that is that I need to use the command line.
0 FunkyFr3sh
I updated the batch file, the window stays now open and shows error messages. Please download it again and retry

0 FunkyFr3sh
Well, that one at least shows the installer was started properly, it failed to show the logfile though. I updated it once more (last try now)

0 FunkyFr3sh
Ok that is bad, problem doesn't seem to be related to our code. Must be a bug in the tool we use to create the installers which is Inno Setup. Does the full game installer for tiberian sun also fail this way? http://tore29.com/tsins/TSinstaller3-beta11r6.exe
0 Blarg227
I was going to mention that... The full download does the same thing, but with the added effect of windows defender identifying it as malware... That's not good.
0 Plokite_Wolf
Run the installer as administrator. And use proper antivirus software.
0 TaxOwlbear
Odd. I use MSE (which uses the same malware definitions as WD) and had no issues with the download.
0 FunkyFr3sh
Not much I can do for you, the only thing I can offer are the game files in a .zip archive
0 Blarg227
You know, I feel kinda dumb. I just realized that I could simply download on a different PC and use a flash drive to transfer the files to my laptop. However, if that ALSO fails, then there is something seriously wrong with the download. (but I doubt that) Either way, thanks for the help. I'll post again if that works. If not, send me a .zip with the game files and then try to figure out what might be wrong with the download.
0 FunkyFr3sh
You should be able to copy it over from one pc to another, you might need to tweak the settings a bit if it doesn't work, try to enable DxWnd The problem you have is related to the path, there might be something weird in it, maybe a special char? As a last test, try to copy the installer directly to c:/ and start it from there
0 Blarg227
Okay, while this topic thread is still fresh, I wanted to point out that the download for the campaign version is detected as a Trojan on windows defender. Is it safe to say that it's a false negative?
0 TaxOwlbear
Upload the file on https://www.virustotal.com/ and post the result here.
