ya, lets continue here. because we re the only testers anyway lol.

new reports:

versions4-8 have NOT the same mouse problem in regards of cursor doubling or bad integration, BUT they all have an enormous delay in scrolling through map. i had to change the scrolling option to highest level to make it playable. but even then u will have a short delay - and not a high speed scrolling u might imagine there should be.

add: i think specialK is using a very high res, like most tib-sun-players. so this scroll-delay he wouldn't even notice ^^but just a guess.

well i tried on 800x and when there is a scroll delay on highest scroll-rate, 640x ´d be even worse.

and: versions4 and 8 surprised me with a exe-error even in the 1st test-skirmish LOL so they may be high corrupted with the error. but this is also just a guess.

(tib-sun on version 2 i will test later, and report)

specialK was probably using the other wrapper (not porting kit) so everything looks normal for him since it should have the same slow scrolling as the other wrapper.

So you still prefer test2 I guess? Did you actually had the same problems on the porting kit version with white screen sometimes? And the other bug " there is ingame a mouse-cursor-shadow, or a white selecting-unit-box frozen" did that also happen with the porting kit version? Really interested to know how well the porting kit version worked :D

ora-boy reported this strange new name-changing-glitch to me. i was as well registered as ora-aek, and he as me lol.

maybe it comes from the testings today - have no clue

oh, you can ignore that. It will fix itself when we are done with these test versions!

To be honest, I have no idea what a wrapper is, nor what OpenGL is  :S...

And I actually skipped versions 1-3 since Clausewitz said they weren't working well ;)... should I go back and download version 2 to check how it works for me?

The mac download for cncnet is a wrapper because the game actually runs on windows only. We are using a tool called wineskin to wrap it up and end up with a .app file that mac users can start with just a click :D

OpenGL is a different method used for drawing everything on your screen, I already changed the installers to have it enabled by default so you don't need to change anything if you download the file again.

Would be awesome if you could try test2 again with cnc1, and maybe with tiberian sun too if you are playing that as well.

BTW, I don't think anyone is going to fix that crate crash and we don't have that many players here using crates in online games, do you think it would be ok to just remove the explosion crate from the game? (It would be easy to do that, could do it on the next update)

1. i highly recommend for specialK version2 for testing, because so far, using it for about 1 week i have had ONLY ONE exe-crash :DD

2. the white screen, when starting a game, occurred 2-3times only. this is as well much better than the porting kit version was! on porting kit like every 30-40th game started with white screen = needed to been closed. no cmd-back option - i tried it all :D

3. however, i know 2 MACusers without my exe-problems, for them is porting kit much better, than the version before. Reasons are better connectivity and game-stability. i recommended for both to use porting kit like 2-3months before. and both are very happy. maybe i could ask them, to test version2 as well.

4. porting kit also had other mouse integration issue: like in 1/150-200 games, mouse cursor just was away LOL. sometimes came back, sometimes after 10min. haha. by the way: the white-box now of version2 is not really a huge thing. double click it away solves it.

5. CRATESissue: on the map 800x600 is a huge bug concerning the crate "dark earth", which turns the shroud of map on again. If a players takes that crate, INSTA-crash in 95% of cases lol. Maybe both issues could be dealt combined by an option in game-lobby settings: "activate/deactivate crates Fix" - which could turn on off "bomb" and "dark earth" crates :))

6. last but not least, i had yesterday about 10 other nicks inlobby hahahahah many people reported it to me :D my nickname gets viral

XD

i prefer to report this, for not being accused for impersonating. one team member even was really convinced (when i was OFFline) that i played with another nick an Arena with them.........  O_o

Cool, thanks for the feedback!

Did you try tiberian sun now? :D I really hope it works, else the testing will go on... And I don't wanna have multiple downloads for the games, would be awesome to have it all in 1

BTW, type "/reset" and the bug with the names should be gone

Arghh, guys, I have bad news. I downloaded version 2 yesterday to try playing Tiberian Dawn on it, and it seems to be severely dysfunctional :/...

The first thing I noticed upon going into chat was that there was no sound. All the usual chat sounds weren't there, even though they were all turned on in the settings. Also, there were only two or three games in the list at the left-hand side, where there's usually at least a dozen...

A friend of mine opened a game that did show up in the list, so I joined and we tried to get it started, but I encountered an exe-error immediately upon starting. In fact we didn't even get as far as the C&C loading screen with the usernames of the players... So we tried it again and the exact same thing happened. A crash at this stage has never happened to me before.

I'll post the screenshots below, and also the error messages I got each time. I compared a couple of values and they seem to be identical, but I didn't check each and every one of them, so I'll post them both.

Let me know if you want me to retry with different settings, or try Red Alert, or anything else...

I could reproduce the crash, just pushed an update to fix it. Can you try again?

About the sounds, that should not happen. No idea what it could be

This new wrappers will only show the rooms of the games you have installed, if you only have td installed then it's normal to see 2-3 games only cause the game doesn't have many players

Ok, that means the update will be installed automatically and I don't need to re-download, correct? And you're right, I only installed TD so far, so that's why there will have been so few open games. Not sure what's up with the sound then, but I'll see about that.

Oh and I forgot to reply regarding your suggestion to just take the explosion crates out of the game. As far as I'm concerned you can leave them on for now, that way I can check whether my hypothesis about Humvees being the "offender" is true or false. Even if it won't be fixed, I'm curious to know whether I was right about my observation ;)... or an optional crate fix on/off as Clausewitz suggested would be ideal of course, but I suppose that would require a bit more work?

It will come as an update automatically, you don't need to re download it again.

Would be nice to hear from claus about the sounds since I don't even have sounds in the virtual machine that I use to test, so I can't really tell if it works for me lol

Instead of removing the explosion crate I decided to replace it with the ion blast crate cause it was unclear if this crash only happens with one certain crate type, I will revert the change later. The result of the ion blast crate is the same as the explosion crate, you will lose your unit (so it actually shouldn't change the gameplay, just looking a bit different). Let me know if you are still getting crashes now, try your special humvee horse moves :D

Haha, I will :D...

For version 2 I have only played one game so far, but it worked flawlessly. In-game sounds are there as well, just chat lobby sounds are still missing for some reason...

Cool, let me know if there are still problems. About the game sounds, try to type this: /reset

Someone noticed earlier that maps were missing cause the updater didn't download them, I checked it and the sounds were missing too...

Ok, should I also bother with the versions 5-8 or what it was there, or keep on playing version 2 to see if it crashes?

Nice!

No, I think we will just stick to test2 for now. I will try to fix crashes in the games rather than messing around more with the wrapper
