ra95-spawn.exe is essentially a heavily modified RA95.exe acting in place of the original one, for cncnet purposes. It is added as separate file (rather then replacing RA95.exe) so cncnet does not interfere with the normal game.

Why are you even posting in this thread if you clearly don't know the first thing about any of this?

Others are getting this crash too, it's not a problem on your end. I didn't look into it yet, but I think it has something to do with the high res patch. What resolution do you use?

this error occurs much more often, since i changed RES too 800x600 now. Before i played 1200, but still it happened - just not that regular.

my subjective feelings is: it occurs more often 1. the more player are ingame (2x2 without problem, critical 3x3, very often error in-between 4x4), and 2. the more "structures" like stones or trees are on that map.

i d like to help solve this. what can i do? safe all crash-files? 2 others gents wrote me PMs, that they ve same unregularily problem as well. How to find out, where the issue is?

Are you sure it's the same error all the time? Will have a look into the one you posted soon

You can also try the new beta mac download, maybe this one works better:

http://funkyfr3sh.cnc-comm.com/files/CnCNet.zip

Not quite sure yet if this crash happens only on Mac or if it's all about the resolution (Maybe even both combined)

Maybe it happens while you scroll to the right or to the bottom? Try to find out what you were doing when it happened :D

Upon request from Clausewitz, I'll also post my screenshot from the thread I just opened over here.

I encountered my problems in Tiberian Dawn, although I've also had an exe-error in Red Alert two weeks ago or so, but I didn't take a screenshot at the time. And like I said in my thread, I cannot access the error details, when I click on 'Show Details' it takes me back to the CnCnet chat.

It appears that Clausewitz and I share the same platform, i.e. Macbook Air running OS X 10.10.5. Maybe that helps narrow down the search ;)...

i re-downloaded in april. is this new download fresher? then i would give it a try

i am very sure, it is not about resolution. i had this error, when playing 1200, when 1000, and now with 800 as well. even when i train gold medal for fun with 640 res i have it sometimes. so i would exclude resolution.

i focus on 10.10 mac software. i am very sure, hadn't that issues with 10.8 before.

The new download was made just the other day, it has the very latest wine version and wineskin engine. I made it on 10.11 el capitan. This is not just a update to the old package, this is a whole new one

It could be 10.10, yes. I will do a change to the game on the next update to test around some more

Edit:

here are some more test versions, I can't test it properly since I don't have a mac (using a virtual machine), so it's up to you guys! Please report back

tested now 1h version1.

* in both renderers (OpenGl and GDI) the exe-error occurred.  :ranting:

* it has a serious mouse integration problem. has in most options TWO mouse cursors in screen! lol. sometimes away with "mouse hack enabled", sometimes not.

* overall seems to bind a "stone" on ya mouse. tried all combinations of settings (video and game options) and my mouse settings as well. couldn't solve it.  :puppydog: even in game lobby mouse feels like: stony and doesn't properly click.

= version 1 is out :)

will try version 2 later tonight and report.  8)

report2.

version3:

*has same mouse integration problems as version1, not that harsh, but still an overall stoney feeling - even inlobby. there is a certain delay when using the mouse wheel, as well as the cursor ingame, which sometimes doubles himself.

*even by changing all settings (including mouse) - and after testing 3 version, i know the buttons and settings, which could help -, wasn't able to make game "playable" ->

*the more i handeled the mouse issues, then resolution issues occurred, like: half sidebars arrows cute out of screen. tried a lot of resolutions, even windowed mode, none solve the problems.

*tried both renderers as well. no help.

resume:  version3 not playable.

although the exe-error didn't occur, reason could be: i only tested it 30min. than gave it up.

finally version2: the best one so far :)

*starts with white screen only on GDI renderer

*OpenGL works quite fine. (except sometimes, but very rare, game starts with white-screen; 2 times so far)

*sometimes, but rare, there is ingame a mouse-cursor-shadow, or a white selecting-unit-box frozen - some double clicks on ground solves this. besides that, everything seems normal and good playable.

* unfortunately  XD after playing it about 4,5h, the exe-error happened. but so far only ONCE (in 3days playing this version) = i am full of hope, it stays this way.  :heady:

*compare: in former version, exe-error occurred in every 15-20th game  O_o

thank u funky, to get us this far :)

That is at least some progress :D Maybe we can get the last bugs solved too, I made a few more packages lol

http://funkyfr3sh.cnc-comm.com/files/CnCNet_test4.zip

http://funkyfr3sh.cnc-comm.com/files/CnCNet_test5.zip

http://funkyfr3sh.cnc-comm.com/files/CnCNet_test6.zip

http://funkyfr3sh.cnc-comm.com/files/CnCNet_test7.zip

http://funkyfr3sh.cnc-comm.com/files/CnCNet_test8.zip

btw, if it's crashing then make sure you check if there is some error log available, it could be a different crash that is not related to macs

These new packages support starting LAN servers now too, but I don't think that needs any testing

You can have multiple versions, try to move your good test2 into the applications folder and then you can always start it via launchpad and your test versions will be in the download folder.

The crash logs you posted show the same good old error :D But if it happens less then it's still an improvement.

I just checked the logs and noticed that this crash really only happens on macs, it also happens with different wrappers (our old one and porting kit) so I guess using different wine versions in the wrapper won't really help that much. I think I also understood now why with some versions your cursor is so slow, if i'm correct then all these 4 versions I just uploaded for testing will have a slow cursor too. Would be nice if you could confirm that!

Oh and could you maybe try to test run tiberian sun on the good test2 version to see if it starts up? Maybe move some units around and check if the scrolling is fast too. We will probably stick to test2 then and I try to look into patching the game instead of updating the wrapper more

I downloaded version 4 yesterday and played around with it a bit. First, when I started it and clicked on Tiberian Dawn, I got an error message (see screenshot). Then I clicked on Red Alert, which installed without a problem, and afterwards when I clicked on Tiberian Dawn again, it installed as well.

I played one match, without any issues whatsoever. No scrolling speed problems or anything.

Should we maybe open a new thread for these test versions so as to not clutter up this one too much with off-topic stuff?

Oh, I forgot to add a proper error message there. This happens when the download fails for any reason, like the server didn't respond. Thanks for reporting, will fix it on the final release.

Glad to hear test4 works, I hope Clausewitz can confirm that. Did you also get good results with test2? Clausewitz said you actually have to enable OpenGL to get it to start up, the default setting resulted in a white screen.

Nah, it's ok to continue here I guess.

ya, lets continue here. because we re the only testers anyway lol.

new reports:

versions4-8 have NOT the same mouse problem in regards of cursor doubling or bad integration, BUT they all have an enormous delay in scrolling through map. i had to change the scrolling option to highest level to make it playable. but even then u will have a short delay - and not a high speed scrolling u might imagine there should be.

add: i think specialK is using a very high res, like most tib-sun-players. so this scroll-delay he wouldn't even notice ^^but just a guess.

well i tried on 800x and when there is a scroll delay on highest scroll-rate, 640x ´d be even worse.

and: versions4 and 8 surprised me with a exe-error even in the 1st test-skirmish LOL so they may be high corrupted with the error. but this is also just a guess.

(tib-sun on version 2 i will test later, and report)
