What base language does C&C95 use? It's C++ right? If I was able to (when I get the time) give you the assembled C++ to instantiate a 32 bit buffer and then the routines to blit into that buffer, would you be able to put it in? or have you not really touched the rendering stuff?

because torrents use hardly any bandwidth. It's a tiny 20KB file vs a huge one

make a torrent with the tiberian sun installer and ask that people use that instead if they can.

CnC4 patch 1.02+ world builder (If any one cares)

Generals isn't really a proper C&C game, but I still enjoy it. We have LAN games in my house at uni sometimes :3 -
Browser Warz: Splitt from the CnCNet on Linux topic

Obviously it's gonna vary from site to site, I'm sure I could write a page that'd load way quicker in IE than it does in Chrome and Opera, but the synthetic benchmarks, peg IE9 as being quite quick -

Actually, IE9 is gonna be strides better than previous ones. The preview is actually quicker than firefox. -
however, with DWM loaded as the default window manager, all the memory required for window handling is alleviated from the regular processes. and aero does disable, I'd have turned it off otherwise!
-
DWM is actually more efficient than the 'classic' (GDI based) look, and all the Aero features get disabled when you're in a full-screen game

try uninstalling CnCNet and then reinstalling it from http://cncnet.cnc-comm.com/downloads/CnCNetSetup.exe

The Linux functionality is currently unavailable due to various incompatibilities. I may try and reintroduce it in the next couple of weeks.

removed? not completely, right? I can write a native launcher if you need it?

I don't know why, but I still don't like opera. Chrome is my browser for speed (It's also got the best rendering engine) Firefox is my main browser due to the extensions I use. In other news, IE9 is looking like it might not be too bad (benchmarks put it running at the same kind of speed as opera 10.5) Adding HTML5 & SVG. Still no word on improved CSS support though ._.; -
Rewrote the launcher and removed all the updater stuff. Works now http://www.cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=39

Weird discovery: Launching WCHAT.DAT from windbg seems to allow the application to work fine. Renaming WCHAT.DAT to WCHAT.EXE doesn't work giving message box Title: "ObjectWindows Exception" Message: "Create fail for window Westwood Chat, 0, HackWindow"
-
Not sure if anyone can help with this, but I can't load WChat. it appears to have something to do with the initial window composition. Message Box error: Title: "ObjectWindows Exception" Message: "Create fail for window Launcher, 0, TSDIDecFrame" Installed using the Westwood-Chat-4.221.exe installer that seems to be everywhere. Running Windows 7 x64 - Not the issue, as pdse runs the same. Running Dual monitors - Not the issue. Disabled one of them still fails. Running from Program Files (x64) - Not the issue, moved it somewhere else. Tested it in XP Mode. Works fine. Grabbed the registry key from XP Regedit and dumped it into my W7 WoW64 reg, Didn't work. TSDIDecFrame, appears to be one of the standard window composition objects in Borland C++ Builder.

I don't think XP mode supports games correctly. Try straight up installing it in W7

Hi guys, I've just made a few minor changes to try and mitigate some recent issues we've been having. When I get a chance I'll have a proper look and try and fix the root of the problem As always, let me know if you spot any bugs!

OS Warz: Splitt from the how to record C&C with FRAPS topic
Irony replied to Ferret's topic in General Discussion
haha, no. Vista is a perfectly good OS. However, Windows 7 is better and because of my degree course, I get two free copies of Windows 7. So I went ahead and used them -
The reason I've been a bit out of contact recently was that for janurary and a couple of weeks into feb I was doing exams. Now I've got a heavy load of coursework and pay-work so my time is a little streched atm. I'm re-installing VS now (not had it installed since I upgraded to windows 7) so I'll probably be able to get an update out today. as for visiting the chat, I'll try and do it more often, but as I said above, most of my time spent on the computer is doing work (check my steam page, less than an hour of games in the past couple of weeks). As for getting MSN, I've got an account, but I find it's far too much of a distraction. If I want to talk to my friends I use facebook chat and if someone really needs to get me they can text/call my phone or hit me up on steam chat since I always have that open. If you still want my msn it's c_n_c_maniac (-at-) hotmail (-dot-) com but I'm probably only online a couple of times a year.

I don't really use IM networks anymore... Do you have Steam?

Nice, Do you have much experience with C#?
