WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT HOW LONG A GAME MUST GO TO COUNT.
Tahj replied to Powerush's topic in General Discussion
How did we get stuck on 3 minutes? And why do we continue making separate topics about the same thing? It is much lower; in fact, it's 2/3 lower lol (I'm sure even SiRaLeX can do that math) Overall, this is a current discussion among the CnCNet team - we're looking for a proper solution. Is it becoming a major issue? Are we seeing players quit under the [1 min] threshold without consequence? -
Out of curiosity, one thing we did with CNC:EVO (for anyone that remembers lol) was bringing back the old WOL battleclans site. I'm sure I could dig up some screenshots somewhere - I think we even recreated the clan avatar creator. Would there be any interest in that approach (for nostalgia factor) or would it be better to start fresh?

The ladder uses Elo ranking...
-
We'll have to investigate further. If it turns out that sexpro is cri95, we'll need to determine the proper consequences. Perhaps a loss of points?

I'm a fan of Humble; this isn't ST though. Anyone that wants to help out, can. Join myself and the CnCNet developers on [irc.freenode.net #cncnet](https://kiwiirc.com/client/irc.freenode.net/cncnet/) I'm not sure that mods are the problem here. Newb bashers exist whether there's WW or Mod maps on the ladder. I do agree however that we should try to figure out something to prevent newb bashers deliberately avoiding top players. That suggestion is practically the opposite of ELO (which rewards players for playing against those around their rank). And yes, there is a time limit required for games to count

Our focus is working out any remaining kinks in the ladder. Once satisfied, we'll begin to look at features such as those
-
That's a relief I'm not opposed to this change. What do others think?
-
@SexPro, you've been credited for those games. Thanks for your patience as we work through the kinks
-
@ORA-croboys, you've now been credited for those games. Thanks for your patience as we continue to work through the kinks
-
Can you type /games and give us the IDNO of the games that did not count?
-
https://www.facebook.com/ladderguys/ Seriously though, we're working on getting the ladder back up and running as quick as possible.

There's a JSON player endpoint that clients can hit if they'd like to implement this feature

Greetings Commanders! After much build up and speculation, we are happy to announce the first official release of the CnCNet Leaderboards. Commanders can participate by logging in to the CnCNet game client using their forum credentials. The leaderboards will reset on a monthly basis and participants this month will receive a special profile award to signify their contributions to the first ladder. Currently the leaderboards support the following games, (with Yuri's Revenge coming soon!) Red Alert Red Alert: The Aftermath Tiberian Sun Tiberian Sun: Firestorm Please report any issues encountered so that we may quickly resolve them! Special thanks goes out to Grant, FunkyFr3sh, tomsons26, Tore, and hifi. See you on the battlefield! http://i.imgur.com/Z45TZcU.png[/img]

Thanks for reporting this! Did you wait it out or quit as well? The ladder never received data about this particular game from either client.
-
As many may have noticed, users should now be able to login to CnCNet using their forum credentials to participate in the ladder. So that we may expediently resolve issues, please post any errors encountered with the leaderboard here! Example topics include: Results not showing up on leaderboard Login issues

I'd just like to reinforce the point that he has zero ties to me. He's a troll and hates me for banning him from XWIS (when I was staff and he was using/distributing cheats). As Rampa pointed out, he's been banned from here and many other gaming related forums. Even if CnCNet were able to "sponsor" players, he wouldn't even be remotely close to consideration

Red Alert and Tiberian Sun ladder map discussion
Tahj replied to FunkyFr3sh's topic in CnCNet Discussion
Yes, I know this There are many mod maps however, that don't allow the additional MCV even when tech'd up. I just assumed this is what the "Multiple Factory" option allowed/disallowed. -

I thought this setting just enabled the ability to produce another MVC (as some maps disallow this). I didn't realize there was a speed multiplier attached? If so, I agree that it should be false. It's become somewhat of a default setting for most players lol -
Red Alert and Tiberian Sun ladder map discussion
Tahj replied to FunkyFr3sh's topic in CnCNet Discussion
We're using Elo rating, so it's based on the points of both players. Players will gain more points by playing others around their skill level. Lower skilled players that defeat higher skilled players, will gain more points. Currently we're setup to reset every month. I don't think this would be fair to those that prefer a certain map. If we agree that all maps should be allowed, then I don't think we should get into the business of penalizing map choices. Currently, there's no limit; but again, playing the same (less skilled) player will yield lower points. I'd like to explore this idea further. I think this could really make an impact on rankings at the end of a given month. I love the idea of having standardized settings for the ladder I've listed my personal preference below for TS. So long as we have the map cheat detection in place, I don't see the harm in allowing any map. Players have the choice to accept/decline the map selection. I think further down the road (perhaps when we consider QM), we could revisit the map pool. Just my opinion of course Tiberian Sun Bases Allowed: true Crates: false Harvester Truce: false Bridges Destroyable: true Multiple Factory: true MCV Redeploy: false Short Game: true Multi Engineer: true -
I'm Confused about the beginnings of CnCNet...

I have no clue who wrote it. Admittedly, I didn't read it and just assumed it was the correct literature. Maybe have Grant rewrite/update? -

http://tahj.cncnet.org/#/leaderboard/ra I'm fairly sure it works. Granted, there's always room for improvement We already have working models for RA, AM, TS and FS (which use network emulation), sending game results to a given server. The only hurdles for YR are manpower and availability.
-
I'm not sure what's insane about logging in but thanks for the support. CnCNet is not based on WOL.
-
The ladder supports player authentication. Clients will be adopting soon. Users will be able to use their forum account credentials to login.

A ladder for YR is ready. We just need the client to start sending results http://tahj.cncnet.org/#/leaderboard/yr
