  1. Same here!! Working on my first clan website got me into web development, which ultimately launched my current career That's because it's not an IRC server; it's a (lazy implementation) WOL emulator. It sends the absolute bare minimum syntax to support the game clients. Generally, you're unable to connect to XWIS using a native IRC client due to it not supporting standard IRC protocol; which is why relays were created - and we all know, that only opened the door for mischievous behavior (host hijacking, internal erroring, auto-starting, etc). So to be fair, I'm not sure we can fault XWIS for trying to prevent users from connecting outside of normal means. Just my 2cents
  2. I can get on board with including certain mods maps (within reason). Although strongly biased, Punker does raise a couple of good points. For any particular map to be considered, it should be fair for all players involved. Any maps with certain [unfair] benefits, probably shouldn't be included. Perhaps it would be best to have a poll for the community to decide which maps (out of a given selection) should be in the [future] QM map pool.
  3. Modded maps can substantially alter any unit/building/tib stats. This isn't entirely true. As a fellow Halo fan (and MLG alumni), there have been forge (Foundry) based maps that have made it into playlists - created by and for MLG of course. Outside of that, I'd never propose for conf or visc maps to be added alongside to any ladder with WW maps. That'd be mental... I do however, have a special place in my heart for BBG and wouldn't want to completely shut the door if we ever decided to "expand" on the map pool via official map pack. I wholeheartedly agree that maps with infinite tib etc., have no place in the same ladder as traditional style WW maps; so, I'd probably recommend two separate ladders (one for WW maps; another for [certain] mods). With that said, I certainly understand the security concern regarding a ladder for mods maps. However, with the tech available through CnCNet, we should be able to limit which maps can be played officially and prevent malicious users from playing altered/non-sanctioned versions. This would be extraordinarily difficult through any TS WOL emulator/implementation, so thankfully we now have some room to think "outside the box". I just don't want us to fall into the mindset of, "that wasn't possible there, so it won't work here".
  4. Why? If they weren't explicitly selected in your map pool, you wouldn't play them in QM.
  5. All the technical details haven't been fully worked out just yet but, QM is planned for the ladder and will be optional. If all works out, the system will probably allow you to select a map pool; although, the veto selection doesn't sound bad. I would like to add a (certain) selection of mod maps to the pool

Great videos! Commentary works best with 2 people IMO I'd be very interested in working together if you're up for it!
  7. This Stefor imposter, is none other than Chris Frietag (Electrocaseal or whatever he's calling himself these days). First sentence of his post is already deceiving since he's actually the owner of the cncgamer domain http://whois.domaintools.com/cncgamer.com Anyway, I totally agree with Frodo and Punker. We have everything needed here - and anything missing is either already scheduled or can always be added. Also, what's a "Tiberian Sun retail style website"?
  8. I do also find myself looking for a kick button. Banning is kind of harsh if you're just trying to make room (and using /kick is just meh..)
  9. I totally agree that Spo0kyCow (and the rest of the Spo0ky clan), certainly deserve to be on the list of weird names lol Is there an overwhelming reason to hide on CnCNet?
  10. +1 for the moderation team Somehow, I think this is related.
  11. Good to know! I wasn't aware about the recent changes or realize there was already a stats bot. We can easily coordinate the data consumption as the ladder server also provides a fairly simple API Also, is there a way to specify clan games within the client - and does the game data reflect that selection? (Forgive me as I haven't looked in a while)
  12. Baby steps. AFAIK, CnCNet doesn't even really have clan support yet I'm sure there will be a (played) match list, or at least something similar but, the "currently online" page is well outside the scope of the ladder. Besides, (while it could certainly be done) I think there's some technical inefficiencies involved to display an online player and game list for CnCNet.
  13. Grant is the mastermind behind the leaderboard design
  14. While there's no set quarter timeline at the moment - Grant, Funky and myself are working diligently on getting it up and running (by 2015) We've actually gained some major traction this past week in getting the ladder server online and properly accepting game results. There's still a lot of work to be done in calculating points etc. but, we're getting really close!
