  1. Fortunately, and unfortunately, we will not have the final say when it comes to making the ladder. Maybe making 2 ladders for mod maps and ww maps would be a better solution. From what I'm gathering, you believe that all players are going to play on all the maps in the 'map pool' and that's just not going to happen. Maybe instead of having 1 group of players playing on nodrescue maps and other players playing on ww maps and having them ranked on the same ladder, maybe we just should split them in 2.
  2. Everything in life comes down to people? I'm not biased towards the people that play mod maps, I once played mod maps. Now that I do not play mod maps I finally realize that the players who play them have less skill and the maps they play take less skill. The idea of a ranking system should be so the best player that plays TS should be ranked 1. Adding mod maps into the picture will not display that. As there are much more modders compared to ww players, we are having this argument. In order to change the mindset for people playing maps, just simply do not add mod maps into the ladder and the mindset of people will change for the better. You make it sound like it's black and white over people vs maps. The maps are flawed and the people's mindsets are flawed towards those maps. It's a cycle. This whole argument of 'mod map players play ts too and they should be allowed in the ladder' is lousy. WOL got it wrong before and we have the option to fix it. Just leave the mod maps for ffg's, nothing wrong there.
  3. Found some good stuff here. Pretty fun to see some of my old clans on this ladder http://web.archive.org/web/20030221025856/http://games2.westwood.com/tsun_ladder/ranking.html http://web.archive.org/web/20030623154627/http://games2.westwood.com/tsun_ladder/ranking.html http://web.archive.org/web/20030828141850/http://games2.westwood.com/tsun_ladder/ranking.html http://web.archive.org/web/20001018094553/http://games2.westwood.com/tsun_ladder/ranking.html http://web.archive.org/web/20001205224100/http://games2.westwood.com/tsun_ladder/ranking.html http://web.archive.org/web/20010210092615/http://games2.westwood.com/tsun_ladder/ranking.html http://web.archive.org/web/20011007184201/http://games2.westwood.com/tsun_ladder/ranking.html http://web.archive.org/web/20020614220651/http://games2.westwood.com/tsun_ladder/ranking.html http://web.archive.org/web/20021021154740/http://games2.westwood.com/tsun_ladder/ranking.html http://web.archive.org/web/20021203181446/http://games2.westwood.com/tsun_ladder/ranking.html http://web.archive.org/web/20010808054833/http://games2.westwood.com/tsun_clan_ladder/ranking.html http://web.archive.org/web/20020815160220/http://games2.westwood.com/tsun_clan_ladder/ranking.html http://web.archive.org/web/20021224082017/http://games2.westwood.com/tsun_clan_ladder/ranking.html http://web.archive.org/web/20021017211125/http://games2.westwood.com/tsun_clan_ladder/ranking.html http://web.archive.org/web/20030221221811/http://games2.westwood.com/tsun_clan_ladder/ranking.html http://web.archive.org/web/20010208102602/http://games2.westwood.com/tsun_clan_ladder/ranking.html http://web.archive.org/web/20010808054833/http://games2.westwood.com/tsun_clan_ladder/ranking.html http://web.archive.org/web/20001029171223/http://games2.westwood.com/tsun_clan_ladder/ranking.html
  4. Punkernfg admits "The people who play them are the problem" Punkernfg admits "The people who play them are the problem" Punkernfg admits "The people who play them are the problem" thank you, now we can address your problem I'm not sure I understand your post in terms of my ideologies
  5. that ladder was great; however, winners had to self-input the wins on a 'trust' basis. Doesn't make sense when cncnet has control of the server. The only reason d3stroyer didn't integrate it with the server was because XWIS owned the server and wouldn't allow that.
  6. The people who play them are the problem; however, we HAVE control over the maps, thus we can do something about it...disallow them in the ladder. Simple
  7. unfortunately as mod maps are easier to play and have less skill, new players tend to start on mod maps and end up getting stuck there. So, not very good
  8. The mod map crew? LOL. Get a clue. It would be nice if people learned to play both kinds of maps as it is learning the game in general and what units are strong against others that is important to attack and defend properly. I'm sure being exposed to mod maps first will not interfere with your training but only make it easier. Then all you have to worry about teaching them is economy. Its ironic how Westwood map players drive new players away with their crappy egotistic attitudes. WW only map players restrict themselves from fully enjoying all aspects of the game. Both kinds of maps take different skills and teamwork. It sure beats playing Forest Fires and Terrace for 16 years then running around calling modders noobs. What a joke. Honestly I think WW only map players need to STFU until they have played every WW map on both Tib Sun and Firestorm along with a large number of mod maps. Only then can you call yourself a well rounded player. For those brave enough to play mod maps and WW maps without picking one side or the other, I salute you! You know who you are. I do pity the eFuddies of the world. ww players will beat mod players on mod maps 99% of the time. There's 1/10 of the skill needed to play on mod maps compared to ww maps. ww players don't play mod maps as there's less skill and thus less enjoyable. skills on mod maps = buy 2 refs with infinite blue tib. no expand, block your entrance and build 100 bans/bombs. Sounds tough
  9. well, it would be nice if new players didnt automatically go to mod maps. I've been trying to 'train' new players to play ww maps rather than falling into the mod map crew.
  10. I'm telling you now, if you allow mod maps, you will split the community in 2. You're going to have a bunch of mod map clans and a bunch of ww map clans who won't play eachother. It happened before and it will happen again. The ladder will not demonstrate who the top player/clan is. Is that not the idea of a competitive ladder? You make it sound like mod maps will be deleted from the game. Mod map players can play all they want, but when it comes to the competitive aspect of the game, mod maps shouldnt be part of it.
  11. Voting maps in isn't going to work as there's more mod players than ww players. They will vote in maps like conflict, etc. BBG is a fun map, sure. But I don't believe mod maps have a place in official ranked tournaments. BBG is just a 'non-speed' unlimited money map. No expansion, bunker down with your 1 little entrnace, blue tib everywhere. Bombu's map is great, I love it. But once again, it's a mod map. If we let some mod maps in the tournament, then we are going to let a whole bunch in. When this happens, the integrity of the game changes as you're going to get more players playing mod maps in the tourney (like they did in the old days) and ww maps will be played less. I'd rather make the modders learn ww maps to play on the ladder rather than splitting the community into 2. The quick match idea might not even work. If I go into a quick match 2v2 and I get conflict...I'm quitting under 3 minutes and it won't count (assuming this rule still exists). Quick match with ww maps sounds good to me.
  12. because mod maps do not show the true skill of TS. There will me mod clans top ranked playing shitty conflict or visc maps. If we want to build the activity and skill base of TS, you cannot reward newb mod players by giving them a ladder. Making the ladder ww maps only, it will be an incentive for mod players to actually LEARN the game, and not sit behind infinite money and bunker bases. This ladder can change the dynamic, activity, and skill level of this game for the better. When we played years back, we had 2 communities split between ww and mod maps. Why would we allow that to happen again? Sure, mod maps can be fun, but when it comes to tournaments and rankings, there's no place for them. When you play Halo online, you can make your own maps and play them in forge, or w/e. But when it comes to mlg or matchmaking (which are ranked), you play the maps that were created for the game, by the creators, not the maps created by the players. The game and strategy was built around the maps that came with the game, by allowing maps that did not come with the game be available during ranked games, the ladder WILL be taken over by mod map players. Mod maps are easier to play and thus, instead of newcomers learning how to play the game properly, and learning, they will settle with the less-skilled maps, and thus jeopardize the credibility and functionality of the ladder.
  13. For the love of god, no mod maps. PLEASE.
  14. I don't want any mods for the ladder. They arent the original maps, amongst tons of other things. Quick Match is a good idea. With map selection, it could sort of be like how Halo does it, you have a map, and the players can veto the map if enough people vote that way. As wuss said, matching skilled players is a great way; however, there isn't enough activity to do that yet, so random matching would be one of the best ways to do it.
  15. what are mod maps? there is only tezz and ff...!!!!. are you high? we play tezz and ff because they are the most balanced ww maps for TS.
  16. I understand it can be frustrating with the pros sometimes. My recommendation would be to join a 'pro game' and ask to spectate. Watching a pro 1v1 or 2v2 can be very useful. Also, ask lots of questions
  17. to the people that don't think this is useful...this is why you play mod maps and can't keep up with us pros on ww maps. woop
  18. the enforced starting locations have been like that since Westwood online supported the game ( that was my hint ). Having the ability to select starting positions is a new feature with CNCnet. Now that we do have that feature, I agree with you, the colours should be random
  19. I dont think having spectators for ladder games would be a good idea. Spectators could message players with substantial information that could sway the outcome of the game. The HP bar is a good idea though
  20. yo funky, 'when an enemy highjacker highjacks an mk2, the enemy cannot build another mk2 until it is destroyed'. This is false, myth broken
  21. Lets see if we can get an accurate list of all ww TS players. I'm curious to see how many we have on here.
