Yeah. No. My regex-fu is mighty
-
Come now. That's what regex search & replace is for I can probably do that with about 5 minutes messing around to make the regex, and then a single click
-
So Tore... why don't you update it in the downloads, then?
-
Actually, I've seen the early C&C1 concept arts. About 50% of the ideas in there were actually used in tiberian Sun. I'm talking laser weapons, hi-tech jetpacks, power assisted armour, cyborgs, the whole nine yards. C&C1 was planned as a sci-fi game, bordering on cyberpunk. They dialed it back to modern warfare when they actually started developing it.

Oh, really? See, the thing is... Kane plans for EVERYTHING. It was blatantly obvious that after his alleged death, the stronger splinter factions of Nod would regroup and try to do something useful rather than just sitting around waiting for their messiah to rise again. They didn't survive the previous times by sitting on their hands, either. The whole idea of Kane 1. not planning for that, and 2. getting upset when it happened, was just plain dumb.

Tiberian Dawn - The Huge Collection (single player)
Nyerguds replied to Chimas's topic in C&C Singleplayer Maps
Huh. I found the website of Mel Olson, and he has a page with his C&C1 missions. Mind you, these are already in your collection. http://www.cncarchive.com/td_missions_captnmel.shtml Interestingly, your missions list contains one more mission of Mel Olson ("Fast & Furious") than the list on his own page. I looked into SCG180.zip, though, and looked into the readme file of the mission, and it's definitely one of his. -
Not sure if the content of this is already completely known... but, found this on cd.textfiles.com http://cd.textfiles.com/cream/cream24/doom/ramap1.zip [edit] Another interesting find: http://www.cncarchive.com/ra_captnmel_multi.shtml

Hey, at least in TS, Kane didn't lose his cool like in C&C3. That really ruined things for me. Kane never loses his cool.

Ah, it seems the inside of the vortex 'funnel' has a fade to black. Just like the shroud edges, that kind of effect would indeed require a .mrf file. Matt: As I said, the .mrfs aren't sprites. They're just colour filters. It just so happens that this animation needs one.
-
Strange... the vortex is an animation, not a colour filter. From what I could see, .mrf files are just colour filters. And the vortex doesn't even change the colour, from what I've seen. It just deforms the shape.

Heh, another Dutchie. Be proud; Dutch people have made the C&C community what it is today Seriously. XCC Mixer (the main C&C1/RA1/TS/RA2 modding tool in the community), and both graphical map editors made for C&C1, were made by Dutchies. I'm Flemish, btw
-
Well, changing theaters' palettes is a bad idea in vanilla C&C... for RA the whole UI depends on the palette, and in both C&C and RA, there are special remap filters (.mrf files in C&C95; not sure about RA) that depend on the palette since they re-sort it to get visual effects ingame. ...I should really make a tool for creating those. That's not hard... convert a SHP to image with XCC with that palette selected, then open it in some image editor that can edit the image's palette (Paint shop pro, Gimp), save it, and then in xcc, right-click on the image and select "copy as PAL". (I'm still not quite sure why Olaf never built in file type detection for JASC palettes though, to allow converting them back to C&C type palette. XCC can convert TO them, but not from. And JASC palettes are easy to edit; they're plain text)

Click the "Options..." button. It has options of the mix file. Like the type, and for RA/TS/RA2 types, the encryption. Hmm. Good point. Looks like I simply expanded the Temperate trees to Snow, rather than made them free to use in all theaters, like I did with the terrain. Probably because incorrect tree usage in theaters that don't have them crashes the radar minimap when it doesn't find the graphics to resize. I guess this means that, without further exe edits, jungle can indeed not be used on the "Jungle" theater name in C&C95...
-
And here ya go. I added jungifre.mix and jungiger.mix to make it work in French and German as well. jungle_theater.zip
-
Obviously it needs a "jungle.pal". [edit] Well, logical it doesn't work. You made it a Tiberian Sun mix file Always use XCC Mix Editor (not XCC Mixer) to make mix files for Tiberian Dawn, and always make sure that in XCC Mix Editor, the type of the mix file is put to Tiberian Dawn before adding any files into it. Also, all the .mrf files need to start with the theater letter as well, so for example "tclock.mrf" needs to become "jclock.mrf" [another edit] Also, it will never work unless you got a jungicnh.mix with the correct .jun icons, too.
-
Ehhh. I hope you didn't modify the palette for your RA95 jungle theater? Because RA was made to only have one ingame palette.
-
lawl. n00b. Who needs external programs for that? Hold shift, right-click on the folder, select "Open command window here". > ren *.tem *.jun Yup.
-
umm... it's not hard... just extract all the files from the mix, rename them all from .tem to .jun, repack it in a mix file, and call that file jungle.mix. It would make more sense for Tschokky to finish those collapse frames before releasing it as new jungle.mix, though
-
I have no idea what that's supposed to mean, but you don't NEED a tech center to build them. You just need to have built one and then sold it. It could've been that he had the tech center for just one second before he sold it, and you simply didn't see it.
-
There's no such thing in TS, as far as I know. The only thing that comes close is the old auto-playing demo function, which indeed plays a recorded game by repeating the actions performed during that game, but that hasn't worked right since Dune II.
-
You mean, if I save the *.MIX file in C&C95 folder as jungle.mix and set a map with the parameter Theater=Jungle, will it run directly? C&C95 has always contained an entry for Jungle theater; it's where the idea for even making this came from. Only, in the original game, before my patch, the theater templates and terrain objects had a "theater ownership" set that excluded them from Jungle theater. When I added the Snow theater, I changed these ownership values to make them all work in any theater. As a side effect of that, Jungle is perfectly usable now. As Matt pointed out, though, just renaming the .mix file won't work; all the files inside it need to have the .jun extension, too.
-
That implies you also didn't do the collapse frames correctly
-
So, um... why didn't you make it jungle.mix? C&C95 actually SUPPORTS Jungle as theater. Also, ehhh... those buildings are all based on existing C&C1 civilian buildings, which have collapse frames. You could've, you know, used those, instead of just copying the last frame. Really sloppy. You realize C&C1 actually uses those frames, right?
-
Ehh. You forget Westwood made their own audio and video compression formats (VQA and AUD), sprite formats (SHP, TMP) and archive formats (pak and later mix). It's entirely possible the encryption algorithm is all their own as well. Doesn't TS have a blowfish.dll, though? I mean, maybe you could just... use that, somehow
-
Yeah, it shouldn't just accuse all map makers who did a little inventive stuff of cheating...
