  1. yes, norton is well known for messing things up get rid of it, you will save yourself a lot of trouble
  2. did you download the plain cncnet5.exe ? in that case make sure you got the .NET framework 2.0 installed you can also download the small online versions, i recently updated them to download/install .NET automatically http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=1639 online versions (big red buttons) http://cncnet.org/5
  3. do you have any anti-virus program installed ?
  4. view this thread here: http://cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=2685.msg17278
  5. w r v space
  6. well, then i dont know what is going on ... maybe you started origin after the update and it reverted all changes .. i heard it does that sometimes
  7. we had a cncnet igl.net ladder not so long time ago, it is the worst crap ever they delete users if they didnt login for a week, the math is horrible and AD spam is insane!
  8. you got it too, but you have to add the hotkeys to the .ini file on your own now [WinHotkeys] KeySidebarToggle=9 KeyScatter=88 KeyStop=83 KeyGuard=71 KeyNext=78 KeyBase=72 KeyResign=35 KeyAlliance=65 KeyBookmark1=86 KeyBookmark2=32 KeyBookmark3=82 KeyBookmark4=87 KeyRepairToggle=84 KeySellToggle=89 KeyMapToggle=86 KeySidebarUp=68 KeySidebarDown=70 KeyTeam1=49 KeyTeam2=50 KeyTeam3=51 KeyTeam4=52 KeyTeam5=53 KeyTeam6=54 KeyTeam7=55 KeyTeam8=56 KeyTeam9=57 KeyTeam10=48 KeyForceMove1=18 KeyForceMove2=18 KeyForceAttack1=17 KeyForceAttack2=17 KeySelect1=16 KeySelect2=16 KeyScrollLeft=37 KeyScrollRight=39 KeyScrollUp=38 KeyScrollDown=40 KeySelectView=69 you probably need to switch Y and Z cause i got a qwertz keyboard
  9. its not needed anymore, everyone got the working file now
  10. so you did enable window mode in the settings ? and did you use the new launcher (not the origin one) ?
  11. did you enable the window mode in the newly added config ? you can get there via the launcher
  12. @hehfest1: Check the game speed settings in the config (you can get there via the launcher) or change the speed while the game is running (top left) @AndarielHalo: use the updater from here http://funkyfr3sh.cncnet.org/ but if you got the working freeware installed already then there is no need to use the origin version, it wont have any advantages
  13. just run the patch anywhere, it should find your origin folder automatically and afterwards you will find a new shortcut on your desktop to start the game
  14. the full version is kind of hidden on the new redalert1.com site, you have to read the text to find it Maybe you can find this somewhere on the site: Installer includes only the multiplayer (Online/LAN/Skirmish). Optionally you can get the full game from here.
  15. i dont think people wanna wait so long the most people just leave the game if it takes too long
  16. that means your connection is unstable, a good connection would never show bad or very bad it only tests it for 3 seconds, that means it could jump from good to bad if someone is watching a youtube video or something on the same connection
  17. if you host an local server then it will work without internet connection without problems there is no need to open any ports in a LAN if you enable the fast peer to peer mode when you host a game then it goes directly from one player to another without the use of an online tunnel server
  18. that looks like you have a very very slow internet connection if it takes 10min to load 40kb then anything is wrong with it for sure hehe do you use wifi ? try to connect via a cable how fast is your connection ? the time it takes to load the game list on startup is also about the same time it takes for you to see the players in a game room once you join a game, same happens when you host a game
  19. add this to cncnet5.ini under [settings] Server=<IP> replace <IP> with the ip of your server make sure you at least started cncnet5 once with an online connection ot get all the files, then copy the full red alert folder to the other pcs in your lan start cncnet5.exe with -noupdate as parameter always use the p2p fast connection option when you host a new game (connecting in LAN mode should also work instead of using online mode) map sending wont work, but that shouldnt be a problem since everyone got the same game folder anyways
  20. that sounds pretty weird, please connect to the online lobby and send me a private message (double click on my name) i wanna see whats going on there
  21. Install the game via origin, then use the patcher from here -> http://funkyfr3sh.cncnet.org/ choose patch existing installation -> it will create a shortcut to a new game launcher on the desktop It will work online just fine (and you also get a high res patch and more cool things)
  22. you dont need to open the ports for tunneled games what is your problem exactly ? Can you connect to the game lobby and chat ? Does it fail once you join a game room and the game starts (Other system not responding) ?
  23. You should try with some other players, do not try to both join the same games. Maybe its only one of you who cant connect, send me a message when you are online the next time and we will try it out if installing to a different folder didnt help then it must be caused by an anti-virus/firewall .. maybe there was an update for those which broke em
  24. Did it work for you before ? If that is the case then try to reinstall the game to a DIFFERENT folder Its a weird bug, it happened on cncnet4 before too .. but i could never figure out whats up with it ... it seems like there is a bad registry key pointing to the game folder or something if you could never play a working game before then make sure you allowed it in your firewall/anti-virus
  25. i was thinking about adding a server but its too big and i dunno if it will work for everyone just try to get an server up, if you can connect to it with an irc client then it should work for the game lobby too
