No, we're not joking. Don't be condescending, especially when you're wrong. Soviets get the 25% discount from the plant, Allies get a 25% increase from the ore purifier. Due to these bonuses, in order to properly calculate fair spending we either reduce the price of all the units by 25% or leave them at base. I chose to leave them at base. But for your sake, let's calculate the flip side. 5 apocs with plant is 6560. So if the sov spends this much, the allied player will have 25% more to spend for free due to the ore purifier. so he will have about 8200. that's 10 grizz and 2 rockies. The allied player will still win. I'm not so sure why you're hell bent on the grizzlies anyway. Why would you use a tier 1 unit vs a tier 3? MIrage tanks demolish grizzlies, why is there no cry of foul there? Also, keep in mind that we actually play these scenarios often. You don't. You see a mod map, and instantly leave. You don't have experience in the matter.

5 apocs are 8750. You can make 10 grizz and 3 rockies for the same price. The grizzlies and rockies will win. I don't see anything too powerful. Just remember this is just one weakness of the apoc.

Apocs were already good in ra2, I know this. However, the shift to yuris greatly undermined them. All the new units added to the game had shoot move functionality. Due to this, apocs fell behind. I brought them up to this new level by allowing them to also shoot move. Apocs will defeat grizzlies on their own, yes. It's a tier 3 unit vs a tier 1 unit. Not to mention, that this is if you pit them alone to each other. Grizzlies + rockies will still defeat the apocs due to the fire being put into disarray. Which is how it should be. The tactic beat out the raw power of the apocs. Also, they require a lab, so you can always kill the lab.

Yes, nobody is stopping you from playing YR. I sometimes host these maps in my lobbies, with people that actually enjoy playing in them. You don't have to join my lobbies.

In our games, those countries can indeed be used without being too underwhelming or overwhelming and they have kept their fundamental identity.

The purpose of this mod is to make all the units viable. The original game is fun, I agree with all you guys. But the original game has far too many unused units that is very unfortunate to always see them put aside for the meta units. Other RTS games have been updated very often to fix unbalanced units. Starcraft 1 is about to receive an update... a game that is even older than RA2. Nothing is wrong with trying to fix the game, especially if it's just through maps that aren't being imposed on anyone. All I ever see used is America, Iraq, and Yuri. I feel like this should be different. I would like to know what you guys think is wrong exactly. I'd like to hear some real substance rather than just "mx maps suck!" Give me details as to why you think that.

I think you're basing too much on last night's game. Matt made the mistake of pitting mirage against tesla tanks. Tesla tanks counter mirage hardcore and thus Kireeek got them all promoted due to this. That has never happened in previous games and Kireeek gathered a lot of elites during that game. Though, it does seem like elite teslas are overtuned. It was a first time for both of us to see that and it was definitely a learning experience. Like I said before, nobody ever got so many elites like that before so I never got to truly see their power as elites. That said, I don't see them being too powerful as greens seeing as they're not cost efficient in dealing with rhino + dogs and deal reduced damage to them. When it comes to units being easy... I think this whole game in general is pretty easy to play and grasp so I don't really see that as an issue. Even the vanilla game, despite you thinking otherwise. Especially since you still have to outwit and outskill your opponent. Lastly, I never suggested this mod was perfect so I don't know why you're mentioning that as a first step to take. I thank you for feedback though.

GunMan, where do I begin? There's nothing wrong with criticism. I actually embrace it and want it to better perfect the balance that I've been working at. That's my main mission. Hell, some of those changes above weren't my idea but suggestions that I had gotten before. The problem with you is that you never gave any constructive critique to begin with. You would push the narrative that shoot move apocs are op because "I said so." You never gave any explanation or reason as to why. How does that help me? The only reason you think I'm picking favorites is because I didn't take you seriously and do take others' words with more consideration. If you want to actually discuss and debate the issue of yours rather than just pout about it, then I'll consider it. You just have to give me something. And no, I'm not racist towards you because I don't agree with you. I'm never racist to you at all. Despite what you may think about me, I actually respect you and think you're a cool guy. I find it a shame that you've been more negative towards me the last couple months. "Mustache is garbage. He doesn't know the game. I can easily beat him." Etc. Because you were always a gg type player. I guess you've been getting so much influence from Matt, because you're sounding like him more nowadays. The meta game in the mod is almost exactly the same. TC and BO are the driving attributes to winning. The only difference being that almost every unit is used and more viable and Yuri is actually used in team games without being too overbearing. I can agree with you about the vanilla balance to an extent. However, when 99% of games consist of America and Iraq I grow weary of such an imbalance. It's been this way since the beginning. Even you must admit that nearly all games come to this, with the occasional Korea and France mixed in. The other nations need a little bit of love too.

Calling card boomer means that the boomer will make a sound like the kirov or demo when it's made. Fearless tanya and troopers mean that they will no longer crawl in fear when shot at. Also, I will add zip files to the main post with the maps in just a moment

Westwood knew how to program the game is all. They didn't know how to balance it. There was no time to balance test it. They had a deadline to meet and rushed the game. Not to mention, even if they got to test it, they still wouldn't know. The programmers weren't pros, they just designed the game for fun. While I'm not the best player around, I'm definitely experienced enough to understand how all the units mesh together. Plus you don't need to work for westwood to know math. Some units were very cost inefficient. Also some were completely useless to the meta game and needed a bit of a buff. Yuri was much too strong and also needed to be changed. We have plenty of ggs regardless of nations now and if there are problems, we fix them. Lastly, you don't have to play them if you don't want. It's not like I'm imposing this on anyone.

Since we've confirmed Zigzag was impersonated, so he's innocent of all charges. We're not sure that Andy knew this imposter or not, but he did know that it wasn't ZigZag. He also had conspired with Alex to do the very same thing. I say Andy gets disqualified and Zigzag gets a replacement partner. I feel like this would be the most fair solution. -

Just join anyone. Some players might give you a hard time for being a "noob," but just ask them for help. You'll find a lot of people are friendly and willing to help. Balance is something that is difficult to apply to a game as old as this. Especially with the nostalgia people have for it. Like mentioned above, the only thing you can do is make mod maps that balance out the game. I've been doing this for a year now. Play on our maps if you'd like to see some tesla tank action! With SW, I would have to disagree. Iron Curtain is very savage, at least in YR. Soviets are pretty shit in the non sw meta though.

Cncnet cannot make balance changes to the game directly. It would tarnish the very foundation of cncnet's idea for classic gameplay. You're thinking of it backwards. If there were to be a balance change to the game, THAT would have to be the option while the classic game remains default. The issue you have then is what balance mod to use for such an option? Players would have to be in agreement to a mod to make in that option. So far, not everyone is in agreement. Me and some buds are trying to make maps and a mod that is balanced and fun. If you'd like, you can test it with us and we can polish these maps for as close as possible to perfect balance. So far, pretty much all nations are useful and none are banned. There are some issues that remain, but they're being resolved. Anytime there's an issue, we resolve it as a group. This is how balance should be. With the combined efforts of the community.

really sad how less the activity is. I think ppl not even trying to set up games. Pretty much seems that way. It's mostly the problem that nobody is on simultaneously. Next time there's a tourny, teams should have at least 6 players in them for substitution purposes. To avoid tournies like this. I would also recommend no yuri, since this tourny became nothing but mag and boomer abuse lol.
