  2. No, I'm asking what exactly makes it incompatible. What makes it unsync if the setting is different at both sides, if the units that trigger it are never accessible in normal MP games anyway?

  6. C&C1 is originally a DOS game. Such games only look in two places... the game install folder, and the CD. Now, which one do you think you'd have to put custom maps in? :roll: (hint: it's the one that is not read-only by design)

  8. Run generals in Administrator mode. These version problems are NOT caused by patching and such. You simply have to run the game in Administrator mode.
  9. Maybe there should be a simple check in that field that it can't be the name of the own executable...

  11. That would indeed be pretty much how it'd need to be done, though, I think C&C doesn't need any 'label' objects to write text on screen. Problem is, the game is still 256 colour, and the videos use that full scope of 256 colours to get good video quality. Where the normal game makes sure certain colours are always the same on all palettes the game uses, like white, black, certain greens etc, the videos don't do this at all. This means you'd have to figure out, per video, and even per scene with a different palette per video, which colour index to use. I'd also probably have to rewrite the text to the screen buffer after every single single frame load. At the moment, I haven't really experimented with this since I'm not too sure how the loading, using and colouring of fonts works.
  12. OOS means "Out Of Sync", and means the games are not acting the same way on each player's PC. It's quite obvious that when not all people have the same map, that's exactly the kind of thing that causes that.
  13. Did you try calling them EINSICON.SHP and DELPICON.SHP? IIRC the game cuts it off after 4 characters.
  14. Yeah... they just recoloured it a bit for the different ant types. On a related note, in the missions themselves, the different ant colours are actually simply done by assigning the full-remap ant to different houses.

  18. That could just be a sign of the silos being full... I know it's an actual mechanism in C&C95. If your silos are 100% full and the harvester needs to unload, it just stops since it's no use.

  20. Are the filenames the same in DOS RA and in RA95? [edit] Doesn't RA95 have a 12point.fnt too?
