  1. Not really. C&C's multiplayer is peer-to-peer; you connect to other players directly. No server is needed, except maybe for matchmaking. SS has a server that people can actually join and leave, akin to FPS game servers.
  2. 'course, since all three are freeware, neither of them actually require The Ultimate Collection in the first place
  3. The Yuriko campaign is tons of fun! I never really got past the first enemy cryo trooper in the other addon campaigns though. Nasty bastards
  4. lol. These are games from the pre-3D generation. They'll never use any of that fancy stuff on a new video card anyway. They basically run on a potato battery
  5. Umm... 1. I said CarryOverCap isn't used. So why bother asking about silos? As I said, it's irrelevant. 2. CarryOverMoney, as the name implies, just looks at your total money at the end of the mission. You will obviously have tons more money if you regularly clean out your silos so you can harvest a ton of tiberium once more. I did mention the cycle for this was "let tiberium grow, harvest tiberium, empty silos with build-cancel, repeat", didn't I? Emptying your silos is the process of converting physical tiberium to virtual cash
  6. Yeah... it's a setting in the map's Basic setting, if I remember correctly. There's "CarryOverCap" and "CarryOverMoney". I assume the first one was meant for carrying over tiberium capacity, but seeing as that would require the mission to start with silos, it is kind of useless, and, in fact, never used. Silo place is kind of irrelevant with the build-cancel trick anyway.
  7. Yes. Olaf is, in fact, the one hosting the downloads of it, and then he calls us out on "endorsing piracy" because we just happen to have no way of checking for official serials <_<

    Bug tracker

    On which game is that?
  9. We had a Beer Truck though. But it wasn't a user
  10. I honestly have no idea what sounds are in the client. I just responded to the request of volume control.
  11. White: Even the ant and dino missions?
  12. Exactly why I think it's useless?
  13. You make such pretty maps
  14. Hehe. I made that Super Saiyan Technician mod for him I think was actually the dino bite weapon modded to have the pistol sound And to make him invincible, since you can neither change the armour of infantry, nor set an Invincible switch on them, I made all other weapons do 0% damage vs armour level 0, AND made sure all vehicles had their Crusher setting disabled. Man, that was tons of fun to do. I probably still have that SHP file lying around.
  15. Oh man. Those were the days. Did you have the same nick there?
  16. Uh... a "file not found" error is not a connection error :-\
  17. One wonders why they bother multiplying it all by 5, then... could just as easily do 4 points for a win, and 1 for a loss.
  18. These are still just internal tests, Jacko... if there were no bugs and quirks left in them, they would be a public ladder Obviously, these should not be taken seriously as real ladder results. I'm a programmer, and I know we very often tweak data in these kinds of things just to see the results in the final view. For all we know, they might've taken amokk's entry as a test case to mess around with. The large amount of people with "255" points in the screenshots is an obvious clue to that. Gotta love dem powers of 2 I'm fairly sure this whole thing will be reset when the ladder actually launches.
  19. Overall hint: if people ask you things here to help you along, it is generally only to gather information on what MIGHT be your problem. It does not imply that the thing they ask about is what is wrong and you should immediately look into fixing it. In this case... wsock32.dll is Windows' official network handling library. Certain fan patches for the game put a different library of the same name in the game folder, so it pretends to the game to be the official one, and like that it's able to change certain things in the network handling. This wasn't a bad thing, though; it's just a method that was used to get the game's LAN mode working again after the original old IPX network protocol that these games used was abandoned by Microsoft. Unfortunately, while this replacement wsock32.dll indeed fixed the game's Local Area Network play, it seemed to often mess up online play. That's why Grant asked about it So yeah, copying the original wsock32.dll to the game folder will have no effect at all. It means that for the game, you're overriding the official Windows network handling library with, uh, an identical copy of it
  20. Um. You DO realize this is a forum mostly aimed towards the classic Westwood games, right?

  22. Not sure where you got that url, but I'm fairly sure that these are internal tests that weren't supposed to be made public yet...
  23. "You wouldn't download a car"... Gotta love the future
  24. Pfff. You must be playing a different Red Alert than everyone else
