[CnCNet] Current list of used map numbers
ShadowDog replied to Nyerguds's topic in Mapping Discussion
I now officially have all the maps. cncNetServer's maps were removed from the list because he revoked them. As such, slots 31-34 are open again. -
[CnCNet] Current list of used map numbers
ShadowDog replied to Nyerguds's topic in Mapping Discussion
Shoot. I put that in the coding, but forgot to make it accessible. ?sort=1 does that, but I'll add in a checkbox. Edit: 16 minutes later, I've added the checkbox at the bottom of the page with the search options and made it so it's possible to set the map's thread just like how you could already set the number of players and "Map Genre/Type" (ex. Standard, Crate, etc.). Click click the asterisk at the right of the box. Edit 2: I was suddenly inspired to add the ability to download maps to the site. A little over half an episode later, the code's done. You can now download all the MP maps from TD, and the Covert Ops maps will follow in a moment. Unfortunately, I need the files for the rest of the maps. So I'm off to download stuff (which will also fill out those threads I've been wanted to look up). I'll make a new post when I've done that (and ask Tore to put it on the front page). BTW, the TD logo next to a map's name means that it's a link to the thread, not a page on the TDMMA. Since I haven't made any pages for maps yet, it's next to all pages with hyperlinked names. Edit 3: All stock TD/CO maps are 4 player, right? Edit 4: I really can not find any of cncNetServer's maps (Tiberian Forest, Garden of Eden, Islands in the Snow, and Delta Ridges). If any of you guys have them, could you attach them? Also, what should we do with these maps: http://www.cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=467 http://www.cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=705 http://www.cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=734 http://www.cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=822 http://www.cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=1004 http://www.cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=1013 http://www.cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=1065 http://www.cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=1536 http://www.cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=1537 http://www.cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=1538 http://www.cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=1585 Also, I capitalized "Snow" in one of the maps and changed "Village of the Forgiven" to "Village of the Forgotten". Two of the 5 player maps were marked as 6 player, and that's been fixed as well. 2 of the maps were in the opposite slots, so I changed thieer filenames around so they were rightside round. I've seen LANPlayers in one map and Players in another? Nyerguds, which one should we use? -
Nyerguds, do you know where I can find the format for the .tmp formats of both games? I might be able to make a converter that changes the information and also converts it to a special version of the CnC palette that accounts for RA's remaps (unless they're the same values).
-
How different are the .tmp files from TD to RA? I could have sworn they were the same format. If so, you could probably just copy in the .TMP files. Unfortunately, you'd probably have to redo the .SHP, but from what I've seen, .SHPs are much easier to work with than .TMPs.

[CnCNet] Current list of used map numbers
ShadowDog replied to Nyerguds's topic in Mapping Discussion
2 things. First off, why isn't Impatience listed? Can someone contact Kilkakon? Second off, TD MP Map Archive. I've figured out how PHP works, and I'm trying out some things I've wanted to do for a long time. One of which is the Supplementary Let's Plays Archive (I doubt anyone here is interested in LPing, so I won't go over that), the other of which is making a CnC map archive. For right now I'm sticking with TD Multiplayer maps because of this thread, but eventually I'll expand it to include singleplayer and RA maps. Does anyone want to demonstrate some of these maps? I know godly-cheese has already done so for a couple of maps. PM me if you're interested in helping with the archive. Does anyone have any suggestions? The project's only 6.64kb at the moment, so I'm not too worried about things being too complex to add new features. -
He's looking into Ajax to see if multiplayer could work.

That's a cool little detail I never noticed.

A 2 years old pinned topic... You generally can't bump those... -
DUKE NUKEM 3D ATOMIC - Mapping with Mapster32
ShadowDog replied to N3tRunn3r's topic in General Discussion
Question: Why are these Duke Nukem 3D topics pinned? I feel like I'm missing a particularly funny injoke here. -
Allen, ask Tore for a project page. I got one, and I wound up never even achieving anything. If you need help setting up a page, I'll help you. I know HTML and PHP. Well, I sort of use .ini files instead of MySQL, but it works all the same. Also, is there a reason you can't use the TD pallets whole-hog? And the silo is 1x1? I think we'll have to get NyerHyper onto where the Silo's foundation type (is that what we'd be looking for?) is stored. Or find an appropriate unused 2x2 building. Wait, wouldn't this work? [FCOM] Prerequisite=proc Strength=300 Armor=wood TechLevel=1 Sight=4 Owner=allies, soviet Cost=150 Points=25 Power=-10 Storage=1500 Capturable=true (Keeping in mind that I just opened TibEd, copied Silo's stuff, and put it under the Soviet Forward Command Center. I don't have this mod installed ATM, as RA doesn't want to run without a fight and I'm too tired lately.)

It's good enough for a sneak-peek using a non-finalized language. That is to say it's doing better than Luftballon.

Logic? This! Is! Westwood!

I used to mod TS/RA2. I'm used to using hacky workarounds for stuff.

I tell the map generator to spawn tile 70_1 (p04.des, frame 1), and it does it. Do you mean how do I access it despite it not being in desert.mix? I have the entire tileset of the desert theater sliced up into files along the lines of "70_0.png" and "70_1.png". The hardest part of figuring out how to answer that was repeatedly thinking of stuff, then going "No, he knows that...". I'm glad you asked that, though, as I'm restarting that project I talked to you about via PM in C++, and I wouldn't of thought of scanning all the files for terrain. I have no clue how to actually make a random map generator. I had the tiles sliced up and decided to go for it.
-
Thanks. When I extract the Temprate theater to "[index]_[frame].png" format (I could automate this if XCC Mixer would extract TMP files as PNG files), I'll get it to export to RA1 format.

Download As you can see, it's a bit rough at the moment, but I threw it together in 2 days. Hit S to take a Screenshot, and D to Dump the map to a .bin. It only generates the terrain (technically, the templates; I'm just used to calling the rocks and roads and stuff terrain from other games) right now, so no automatic multiplayer or mission support, sadly. Some sort of onslaught of enemies versus your MCV will probably be the next things I implement. Does anyone have any tips on how to make an interesting random mission generator (ignore the fact that the maps look horrible)?

Isn't Net play faster than LAN play? Only with more desynchs (unless that's just the current attempts to migrate LAN play to Net play)?

New Icons and side bar (wip, opinions needed)

I love it. Definitely goes well with the winDOwS mod. -
Thanks, Revolutionary.

Just wondering, why? I've never seen any noticeable problems with it. (Haven't used it in a while for actual .ini based games, though). Seriously, if you can tell me what's wrong with it, I'll try to come up with an alternative (since I might need to anyway for unrelated reasons).

I just realized a use for those melee frames for one of my projects... EDIT: Wait, are the hand signals (starting at frame 437) used?
-
I think what he meant that there's nothing switching them around could fix. However, I remember playing a weird "CnC in RA" mod with Ordos' Barracks and I think maybe a Pylon in it. It said that it made the Soviets into GDI and the Allies into Nod to fix some unspecified problem. Also, have you checked to make sure GDI build the HELI rather than the HIND? P.S. Could you post the HELI and HIND entries? EDIT: Do you have the A-10 in this mod?
-
Why have I never seen nor heard of these frames of animation? They really interesting ones start at frame 338. The standard infantry has frames for: Throwing down his weapon to start a little fisticuffs Getting shot to death while unarmed Getting melee'd to death in melee mode Randomly freaking exploding! Getting blown away by an actual explosion Stop, drop, and... dead. Is this common knowledge and I'm just that slow?
-
I'm using Game Maker, but I wanted to know how I'd do that in some sort of C/++/#/Java-ish language. That'll definitely work much faster than converting 2 numbers to strings, concatenating them, and abusing the fact that Game Maker is an interpreted language.
