Opinion: Pet Peeve on Laming in FFG on East vs. Best
FlyingMustache replied to XXxPrePxX's topic in Red Alert 2
Prep, there is no "proper 3v3." That type of thinking goes against the spirit of RTS. The instances you are citing are centralized yes, but players aren't to blame. The map is. Moving to mid in heck is a meta move. If you want to change that meta, do something about it. I did. Put multiengie, put heck no gems version, turn off build off ally con, etc. That's the great thing about the game. You can change it. -

Engineer is bad design anyway. $500 to mind control a building. I always keep multi engineer option on when I host. -

I understand, but it's still m.e.t.a. Due to this, I will often play edited versions like heck no gems. -

It's the meta game for that map. If you decide not to move, that's the risk you take. It's completely legitimate. This is like hecks meta game. Moving to mid in a team game is a must. You can choose not to move if you want, but you will probably want to rush or die. -
This is definitely more like it. You're right, I should be posting on the testers forum more. I just haven't had time to dig through it all. I don't want to start drama, so I apologize if I came on a little rude.

What are you talking about? Logical to any individual? The arrogance of that statement is palpable lol. This post could be summed up as "I'm not going to waste more time debating because I think I know I'm right already." The initial post was me saying that we should have more varied maps. Your rebuttal: it intimidates new players. Where is your evidence for this claim? I refuted with (anecdotal though) my conversations with newbies on discord. A variety of maps in my experience is good for new players because some of them like to see their favorite map on the list. The current list reflects the same maps that only the elitists like. Where is the line drawn to differentiate from your preference/opinion vs others' preferences/opinions? This is what you're trying to dismiss with your arrogance.
-
Then show it in discussion. Prep does a good job of it, rather than simply dismissing. That's how things should be.
-
I wasn't agreeing with it all. I'm just looking for substance, some rebuttal. Some of these elitists dismiss everything that isn't their preference that they start to trap themselves in this bubble. They start believing their opinion is fact like cultists.
-
At least there's some discussion here. Not just "fk nob. Shit setting. l000l"
-
It would be interesting to try some of these out. Don't let these players discourage your ideas. Their opinions are not superior to yours. Debate is crucial.
-
That's what you think. I've been helping/mentoring new players on discord. They have varying gripes with the competitive scene, but varied maps is not one of them.
-
A lot of the nicks are just aliases. Anyone that is truly new to the game a extremely seldom. Most new players just play ffg since qm intimidates them.
-
Players already run into that problem regardless of maps. Ever notice it's the same players as always in ladder competition?
-
Yeah, don't worry about him. His opinion is very biased. Put plenty of maps for more varied strategy.
-
Well I can say their victory is far more legitimate than Matt's rambling.

When nerds use nerd as an insult. Oh the irony.

Marko(Iraq) vs MustacheX(Yuri) on Heck TL vs BR
FlyingMustache replied to Zhasulan's topic in Red Alert 2
Oh wow, this was in January I think? I didn't know it was recorded lol. Ooo ooo aaa aaa -
Pretty much. Especially when Matt is involved.
-
I didn't say it was my favorite. I know that some people like maps outside the popular list. I was merely pointing out that discrepancy.
-
Once again, your statement is subjective. You're trying to push your opinion as fact, it isn't.
-
That's just your opinion. It's fine that they're including plenty of maps. Get a bit of everything in there.
-
Well someone would have to compare the rules of both games and check what changed. It could be base damage, it could be warhead percentages. Only one way to find out. I'll check it when I get home.
