  1. Yeah, I had to cheese the Chinook part and put a bunch of units there that destroyed it as soon as it appeared. I don't know how many of the bloody thinsg I shot down during the mission. Probably 20 or so.
  2. I tend to do that only to skip missions I don't like. Specifically the Nod chopper mission and the GDi mission where (in vanilla) you have to babysit Moebius and the civilians.
  3. Same for me. For some reason, I have a tendency to always choose the same mission, though, even if I pick randomly and don't pat attention what I chose the last time I played.
  4. I know - I did the same for GDI missions 5 and 13. But I promised to do all maps, so I do all maps. Even it's the same map. I like that Red Alert has different maps for all multi-map missions, even though the objectives are always the same (unlike in C&C1).

  6. Slight tangent: The author speculate about buildings on a Red Alert screenshot and identify the arms factory as a construction yard and then as a power plant. AA guns are turned into "heavy artillery". Also, the editorial at the beginning discusses how people start to bitch about games becoming too easy and too casual.

  8. Using the artillery for a permanent barrage is a neat strategy. The lack of accuracy works in your favour for once.
  9. Hey, I didn't design this map. What I didn't show was the five times in the beginning where failed for various silly or random reasons.

  11. Yup, first time I played the mission the harvester squished by commando and all engineers.
  12. I'm not sure if that's intended, but the artillery has just enough range to take out the towers. You have to avoid or destroy the gunboat, though, and watch out that your northern party doesn't get airstriked (only possible with a bait minigunner) and risk that your artillery gets destroyed and that you have to do it the other way anyway.
  13. I think that the devs intended the player to use the southern group to take out the two GDI guard towers with the artillery and then have the northern group take over the base. However, the base can be just taken over from within (especially in the second version of the map where approaching the base from the North gives you access to it) and the towers destroyed with an obelisk or rocket soldiers.

  15. I never noticed much of a great difference between the in-game music and HD tracks. Maybe it's because the music is so funky and electronic already.

  19. It's a matter of taste. Back then on a 640x480 pixelated screen the different was IMO less prominent.

  22. I prefer the smaller infantry. It's already pixelated and off scale enough; there's no need to make that worse.
