TaxOwlbear Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 The second Allied mission in YR has these civilians units named after Hollywood stars. Sadly, the names were changed to generic names (e.g. "Cowboy" instead of "Flint Westwood") and the characters now use the GI voice clips. I already installed the unofficial TFD patch, but the names and voice clips are still unchanged. Is there a way to mod them back in?
Jacko Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Yeah I remember the original voices, perhaps they are still on the old Yuri CD?
TaxOwlbear Posted November 16, 2015 Author Posted November 16, 2015 According to the CNC Wiki (not sure how reliable they are here), the clips are still included but not used. I'm not enough of a modder to bring them back, though.
Plokite_Wolf Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 They were replaced in version 1.001. There's the unofficial 1.002 patch which, among else, restores them.
TaxOwlbear Posted December 8, 2015 Author Posted December 8, 2015 Just in case some stumbles across this thread: I installed the 1.002 patch, and it did restore the voice files and names. :heady: I had to restart the campaign, though. Just restarting the mission or loading the auto save file didn't do it.
TaxOwlbear Posted December 8, 2015 Author Posted December 8, 2015 Sure: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyLp3snhe6w Note that it says 1.002UMP/1.001 on the start screen.

Do you know if the unofficial 1.002 patch can be successfully applied to the version of the game available via the Ultimate collection? If so, how? and I have red alert 2 by way of the ultimate collection. Whenever I start the allied mission Operation: Dark Night from it's beginning I have Special Agent Tanya and 3 veteran (single chevron) GIs. However, a short while into the mission the 3 GIs autodie for no apparent reason. Should the 3 GIs have started with veteran status? Was the player meant to have those 3 GIs at the start of the mission at all? Why does this keep happening? And how do I stop it?
ROBOTICSUPERMAN Posted February 3, 2016 Posted February 3, 2016 Is that the ra2 allies mission where you have to reestablish control of the Colorado base to get rocketeers? If so, yes you start with a few veteran gi's Ps I can't remember the mission names.

Disable Origin functionality for all TUC games and get the fixed TUC launchers. http://bibber.eu/downloads/cnc-ultimate-collection-launchers/ Install LaunchBase. http://marshall.strategy-x.com/LaunchBase/index.php Download the UMP and import it in LaunchBase. Negative negative, It's the Poland (destroy/capture Soviet nukes) mission between the Chicago (destroy the psychic amplifier) and D.C. (kick the commies outta the capital) missions.

Probably a simpleton-ish question, but I added VideoBackBuffer=No to the RA2.ini to deal with a lag issue. you don't think that could have anything to do with it ?

Volkov_MK3 Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Set LaunchBase and YR to run as administrator. Still getting par file error.
TaxOwlbear Posted February 29, 2016 Author Posted February 29, 2016 Why were they replaced in the first place?! Late answer, but the only thing I could image is that they were afraid of using someone's character without permission. That would strike me as odd, though. I doubt that Schwarzenegger, Stallone or Eastwood care about a RTS game. All of them have been parodied before (and parody is covered by fair use), especially Schwarzenegger e.g. the Cryolegionnaire from RA3 is basically Mr Freeze from Batman & Robin.
Speeder Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 Why, why, WHY would you recommend installing LaunchBase or its unofficial 1.002 to ANYONE in 2016? More pointless name-it-ware that people do not need on their computers. That being said I don't see why those names & voices couldn't be restored in the CnCNet rules since they don't affect gameplay at all.
Nyerguds Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 cncnet only does stuff for multiplayer. That's why.
Speeder Posted February 29, 2016 Posted February 29, 2016 And skirmish. Oh well, if it's just for that one mission then the mission itself could be updated with few mods to restore the names and voices.

Do you by any chance happen to know where I could find such a mod? Preferably compatible with the ultimate collection version of YR installed on a System type: 64-bit Operating System, x64-based processor Windows 8.1.
