Yikes... do you need to know all of that^ to make a ladder server???
-
You should have recorded and uploaded it, would have been good to watch.

WHAT??? For 20 years I've thought that he was just one accurate mofo

He won't help for free

No one is willing to work on the game with the 2nd most activity (sometimes the most)??? Well that sux I'll see how far I can climb the RA & TS ladders then just for fun (probably not that far ), I'll just avoid the P4 games . TD and D2K will be fun too if they get done If you guys are under-staffed, why not look for extra help? Maybe an advertisement should be posted at game forums, programming forums and other related forums. Something like: Dear fellow developers/programmers/modders, CnCNet.org is a small, but growing C&C (Command & Conquer) community in need of assistance with our current Leaderboard project. We work on a voluntary basis so unfortunately all we can offer in terms of payment is the gratitude of the hundreds of players who have long been waiting for this project to be completed. But more importantly, your name will be added to the list of people who helped make this possible. A C&C fan will be a plus, but not necessary. However, we do require someone with -(such and such skills, low level language, high level language) -(more required skills) -free time! If you are interested and would like more information, please contact us at (cncnet email goes here... [email protected] ?). Your soldiers await you Commander! Sincerely, The CnCNet Team

What's the chances that the YR ladder will be released before the end of the year: 50% ? 30% ? 0% ??? I plan to play a lot of YR (as well as other classic C&Cs) during the holiday season, and I'm sure a lot of others do too. CnCNet is fun enough as it is, but a ladder will be a nice finishing touch. Plus it'll help bring all the RA2/YR communities (Game Ranger, XWIS, Hamachi players, maybe even QQBattle) together - that's a 100% certainty

I get your point, but how come even Commando (from Tiberian Dawn) and Tanya can't do it? They should at least have the option. The only infantry that make sense to stop and shoot are RA2's GI and GGI because of the sandbags that magically appear around them every time they kneel , or TD's bazooka joes or something like that. But infantry with guns should have the option: stop and shoot with accuracy, or move while shooting with less accuracy. Which units? (I haven't played Generals in a while).
-
Well, the title is pretty vague so I'm not sure if gameplay oddities count, but I've always found it odd, not to mention annoying, that infantry units in all the C&C games and just about every other rts, have to stop to shoot. They stop to shoot with no cover while they're being shot at... ??? wtf. Vehicles can fire while moving, why can't infantry?

It's weird to you because you're looking at your little sequence like it's multiplication, and not division which it is. Let me extend the sequence to include your 'weird' assumption: 6 / 1 = 6 6 / 1.5 = 4.5 <-- Alex's anomaly 6 / 2 = 3 You've assumed that dividing 6 by what is HALFWAY between 1 and 2 (which is 1.5) would equal what is HALFWAY between the answers 6 and 3 (which is 4.5), which is obviously incorrect. Now, if it were a multiplication sequence/pattern, then it'll make sense: 6 x 1 = 6 6 x 1.5 = 9 6 x 2 = 12 In this case, MULTIPLYING by what is HALFWAY between 1 and 2 (which is 1.5) does equal what is HALFWAY between the answers 6 and 12 (which is 9). It works with any other sequence. For example: 10 x 10 = 100 10 x 15 = 150 10 x 20 = 200 or 10 x 1.5 = 15 10 x 2 = 20 10 x 2.5 = 25 or whatever. But I do admit that at a glance, especially because of the way you've described it, it did look kinda weird.

Show off^ I can think of a couple of ways to make the AI stronger: [*]Add more AI players - Try to beat 7 Brutal AI players. [*]If that's still too easy, try beating 7 Brutal AI players on this map: http://www.mediafire.com/download/c4f43dh3bnubvcy/hecks2c.mpr This is a modified Heck Freezes Over map where the AI is on steroids and the desolators actually deploy! Even against 2 AI players is pretty damn hard to beat! Just wondering, why do you mostly play skirmish games? Are we too boring for you?

That's what I mean.

Yeah you're right, less compression is definitely quicker. Not sure what i was thinking

About the classic RA2 mode... the Industrial Plant and Robot Control Center are not in RA2. Not really important but some units still have YR voices like the -MCV -War Miner -Aircraft Carrier Everything else that I've seen so far seems ok.
-
Why not save the map images in JPG format? It'll be much smaller and faster to process. The quality should be the same because RA2/YR's graphics are very pixelated for today's standards, and even if the quality isn't as good, it's only for preview maps anyway.

Fun With RA2/YR (just me messing around with the games)

Red alert 2 (without Yuri) or Classic mode, when will it be released?
fir3w0rx replied to notawizard's topic in Red Alert 2
That's because building units takes longer compared to RA2. But as long as rulesmd.ini, and maybe other things are modified correctly, it should feel pretty much the same as RA2. Hopefully they don't go overboard with the modifying like I did here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VudbqNCch4w -
It's great to hear that you're adding missions to your mod. To me, a mod isn't complete without missions, just a fancy skirmish mode.

The bottom screenshot is GDI Mission 5 - "Repair the GDI Base" (Germany)!! I'm not sure which mission the top screenshot is though. Which one is it?
