  1. I'm surprised you guys haven't all gotten together yet and made your own rts game
  2. Old save games? From the original RA1?... WHO THE HELL IS LOADING SAVE GAMES FROM 1996???!!! I probably wouldn't even remember WHY I saved it at that point. I'd understand fan-made missions that were made for the original; they should be made compatible... or maps, mods and things like that. I totally get the staying true to the original thing, but it's just weird how at this stage in development that this is already a hot topic But I'm sure after this project is completed and released, someone here can make a third-party tool for converting old saves to whatever version you want anyway.
  3. It'll be hard to make this compatible with modern hardware and software, while at the same time staying true to the original source code. Imo, for this to be true to the original, you guys will have to make sure that the finished product runs on the following: -Pentium -Windows '95 -64 MB of RAM (I think I had even less) -VGA monitor, oh sorry... SUPER VGA monitor (those big box looking things) -and your mom in the background telling you to do your homework every 5 fkn minutes
  4. So far (for YR anyway), they've drawn the title http://tahj.cncnet.org/#/leaderboard/yr But jokes aside, the RA and TS leaderboards are looking good (except for the super high points ), and my guess is (and mine only, I could be way off ), when the ladder for these 2 games are officially released, the rest of the games will follow soon after that because they're gonna use the same or similar template/coding. But I agree with everyone in that it's taking a while, maybe they ran into a brick wall, or maybe a mountain . Idk, just my opinion.
  5. Don't forget us AMD users please I wonder if any of this helped the op's (Xcom) lag problem It's only his first post ever, maybe he's not used to this forum and lost his page
  6. No! Because of DirectDraw, RA2/YR is completely CPU bound and has no business to do with your GPU, at all. I just pulled it out of my ass, based on Moore's law. I also want a mention to my name wherever the table is used. Ah ok. Smart ass! Did the XWIS version use DirectDraw? Because when I used to turn off my NVidia's 3D settings and set my desktop colors to 16bit, there was a noticeable difference, so I've just been doing the same with the CnCNet version.
  7. Well you know what I mean; a decent graphics processor / gpu Is that table based on tests done on specific games or just rough estimates?
  8. The 'lag' with moving the mouse over the map could genuinely be lag, but it could also be an illusion which happens when changing to a larger screen resolution; your mouse cursor basically has more screen to move around in. The same goes for scrolling/panning; in smaller resolutions, scrolling looks faster. Try adjusting your mouse speed settings in windows. Things you can try to minimize lag: -If your graphics card allows for 3D settings, turn them off for RA2/YR (whichever options you can anyway) and set whatever 3D options you can to 'performance'. -Run RA2/YR in 16bit color -Make sure that it's not the other players that are lagging -Don't download anything while playing -As mentioned above, lower your screen resolution What are your computer's specifications? NOTE: You still need a fairly decent graphics card to run RA2/YR in 1920x1080 when there are a lot of objects on the screen without lagging.
  9. 'The Jesus Soldier' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2wARiQwt-c Sort of like that fun game you play in high school when picking your friend up in the morning before school (from The Red Alert Archive)
  10. If you're serious, you are a total retard. Begone, pitiful attention seeker. I was wondering what the fk you guys were talking about, 'till I realized that I'm 1 of only 10 people still using the old cnc-comm forum theme
  11. Why would someone pay you for a ladder when there's a free one in the making? What will your ladder have that Sean (Tahj / Apgar / Sean3z)'s won't?
  12. You can't teach everyone you dislike a lesson you know, 'cos that'd be like... a shit load of people, no matter who you are It's not worth the time or effort in most situtations. Btw, you got any vids playing against Marko, Tim or Tomi or any other top tenners (win or lose)? Those would be awesome to watch. Oh, back on topic, uh... ladders are good. I look forward to the one in the making (which will probably be released soon after Olaf takes over this place )
  13. Too bad he only reached this level of play after a lot of elites have either become casual players or completely left the game
  14. Build queues and shift box selecting should be added to CnCNet's version of Red Alert so that I can keep up with the P4 Gold Medal pros and all their hotkeying
  15. "Written from scratch" I'm just curious as to how one would go about doing this. Are you guys looking through reverse engineered code (disassembled code, going through the RA binaries one instruction at a time with a debugger) and using that as a guide? Or do you guys load up the game and go "Ok, so the menu appears and these buttons are drawn at x,y coordinates (writes code to draw menu with buttons). Now when the 'Start New Game' button is clicked, the difficulty settings appear (writes code for the difficulty selection dialog box which will be called when a mouse-click is detected)? (I'm aware that it's much MUCH much more complicated than that , but is it something like that^)?
  16. I can't remember now why I took screen shots of these but here you go: strike-team / xwis ladder SSs You can of course check out Wayback Machine (not all links have ladders though): WOL Ladders: RA2 Single Player RA2 Clan YR Single Player YR Clan Strike-Team / XWIS Ladders: http://web.archive.org/web/20040201000000*/http://xwis.net
  17. What can be done with having the RA source code that can't be done by diving into the binary bowels of compiled executables (as Nyerguds puts it), or just simply modding the game? Or, to put it in another way; what's the advantage of having the source code (or recreation of the source code)? (serious question, not being sarcastic or whatever)
  18. Haha. Btw how is it good balance to the game? And what's 'cying'? 'Construction Yarding'?
  19. Event loop? Is that when your wife constantly whines about everything, everyday? Yeah, the more the merrier... hurry the fk up! Hey Alex, can you secretly add a function/trigger or whatever the fk u guys call it, so that when the ladder sees 'fir3w0rx', it automatically adds a few extra points to it? Thanks, much appreciated.
  20. Well good for them! Ok, no probs then.
  21. Umm... Don't get on his bad side?
  22. I was learning how to hack RA1 with Cheat Engine, but Iran put too many anti-cheat codes so I gave up Hey SiRaLeX, who's that umm... woman?
