  1. Only singleplayer campaign, I haven't tried online multiplayer just yet. No special error message, just the usual Windows one. *EDIT: In multiplayer, the bigger maps work but the smaller ones don't.
  2. Is each game supposed to have it's own separate installations of Mumble? Because I went into the CnCNet5 lobby then clicked 'Voice-Chat' after loading up Dune 2K and RA1, and both times Mumble was downloaded and installed. Also, how do I update the Mumble that's installed for each game? I downloaded the update from the link given by Mumble (SourceForge) and I can only either update ONE of the installations (RA1 or Dune 2K) or create a-whole-nother Mumble installation in another folder. *EDIT: I updated my Mumble that was installed in C:\Games\RedAlert1_Online\CnCNet5\Mumble, then I just copy-pasted all the files into C:\Games\Dune 2K (GruntMods)\Dune 2000\CnCNet5\Mumble. It seems to have updated both and are working fine as I can hear 2 people playing and talking about 'tanking up' and stuff . Is what I did ok or am I going to encounter errors later on?
  3. I beg to differ; a fake website will have adverts and pop-ups left, right and center I think it looks good, I just don't like the plain white backgrounds, they look empty.
  4. I've only had a quick look and everything seems awesome, except that screen resolution 1920x1080 crashes my game, then windows pretends to check for a solution . 1280x720 works fine though. I was going to post this at GruntMods' forums, but the forum doesn't seem to work. My specs: GPU: Gigabyte Radeon R9 290x OS: Win 7 Ultimate x64 Dune 2K settings: Bits Per Pixel = 16 Everything checked except for 'Slow Slider Scrolling"
  5. Just letting Norton users know that Norton Internet Security's SONAR blocks CnCNet5, but it's a false positive. Just restore the file then exclude it in Norton.
  6. Is this it: http://cncnet.org/
  7. I used this theme pack on my Windows 7 64bit before, but I had to do it manually by going into Start -> Control Panel -> Mouse (and changing each individual cursor) Right-click desktop -> Personalize (to change the wallpaper and sounds) which took a long time. There is probably a proper way to do it but I don't know how. Also, if I remember correctly, the screensavers never seemed to work on Win 7. Alternatively, there are much better C&C theme packs that can be found at ModDB: http://www.moddb.com/groups/command-conquer-westwood-fans-ea/downloads where you can find some pretty cool C&C theme packs. Just a heads up though, some of the cursors and sfx can be a little annoying after a while so you might have to re-arrange or completely remove some of them . The theme files are stored in: C:\Users\(user name)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes That link also has a lot of other cool C&C related stuff.
  8. I'm sure that from a modder's point of view there are a lot of differences between vanilla Tiberian Dawn and DTA, but from the average gamer's point of view, I really can't see any difference in graphics whatsoever, except that DTA looks a little better. Yeah this. Why re-invent the wheel when what we currently have is more than good enough, imo. Perhaps ask to join DTA's team and just build on their awesome work. An enhanced version of all, or even just some, of TD's original campaign missions would be great, not just with better graphics, but maybe add a few things to them (eg. an EXTREME difficulty, or something). But if you MUST continue with your idea, I hope you don't end up just adding to ModDB's long list of 'teasers' that will never see the light of day.
  9. Nice. I was never a top player by any measure but I learned a lot from getting my ass kicked by them TS is so under-rated. PS: Don't use the word "whom" on this forum otherwise Nyerguds will kick your ass!
  10. I've just upgraded my gfx card to a Radeon R9 290x, one of the best gpu's today (not for OpenRA but for other games), but I'm still getting the exact same exception and graphics logs as I posted on the first page... AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGHHHHH!!!! Yes I uninstalled OpenRA then reinstalled it... I hate this PC... Maybe my problem isn't related to my gpu's?
  11. Fair enough, I understand. I don't mind being corrected as it makes me a better person, so by all means... correct away! Correct the hell out of me , as I know I'm faaar from perfect. It's just the way you say/type things, not just in this topic but all throughout this forum. I didn't really mind, I just felt like being a smart-ass at the time. Now with the word 'whom' - used 'to make others feel inferior'??? Well ok, thanx for letting me know, seriously, I'll keep that in mind (not being a smart-ass). Thanx again for your help a few weeks ago with installing and loading up C&C fan-made missions, and also for all your work on that classic that started it all (well, actually, Dune II started it all but let's not get into that). I hope you keep up the great work for another 7 years!
  12. "if you don't know how to use it..."? "if you don't know how to use it"??? WOW!!!... What a nice guy! Your work on C&C is great, but your people skills suck dude! Stick to programming, plz. "if you don't know how to use it" (smh)... :D PS: Thanx for the English lesson on a gaming forum.
  13. Yeah, despite the recent departure of Iran, this is still a great community; it has low-level programmers as well as high level, modders, artists, and of course gamers (just to name just some of the contributions), whom are all genuine fans of C&C. More than that, some are really friendly too. I've watched this community get better and better over the years and I really look forward to it's continued improvement for more years to come. Well done everyone!
  14. Here's my playthrough (with commentary) of one of the fan-made campaigns from the first page. There's no way that I could get all or even most of these fan-made missions / campaigns completed, but I plan to do a lot of them. 15. Same... exeption.log: Operating System: Windows (Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1) Runtime Version: .NET CLR 4.0.30319.18063 Exception of type `System.InvalidOperationException`: No suitable renderers were found. 16. ID Software games always run exclusively on OpenGL. You can try Free Software games like http://www.urbanterror.info/ which uses the old idTech 3 engine and SDL 1.2 or http://sourceforge.net/projects/unvanquished/ which is a modernized engine which has been ported to the same SDL 2 version we use, too. 'Urban Terror' works just fine on my PC. I didn't try 'Unvanquished' because I think you have to compile the files yourself, which I have no clue how to do. Still the same, but I think the graphics.log has changed. exception.log: Operating System: Windows (Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1) Runtime Version: .NET CLR 4.0.30319.18063 Exception of type `System.InvalidOperationException`: No suitable renderers were found. This release of the .NET Framework does not enable CAS policy by default, so this load may be dangerous. If this load is not intended to sandbox the assembly, please enable the loadFromRemoteSources switch. See http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=155569 for more information. at System.Reflection.RuntimeAssembly.nLoadFile(String path, Evidence evidence) at System.Reflection.Assembly.LoadFile(String path) at OpenRA.Graphics.Renderer.Initialize(WindowMode windowMode) at OpenRA.Game.Initialize(Arguments args) Also, I know this won't help, but those^ error messages are output 2x in each log file, but I only copy-pasted 1 from each. Sorry to turn your OpenRA post into a 'help fir3w0rx' post
  17. I have this one installed: http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/75991/en-us I'll try the OpenGL games mentioned above as soon as I get a chance.
  18. Yeah, this confirms that the problem is with your OpenGL drivers. These fields should never be blank. Maybe try installing a different driver version? Ok, but where do I find drivers for the OpenGL? Or would I have to roll back my gfx card driver (GeForce gtx 580)? I don't think I'll do the latter because all my other games work just fine, rolling back the gfx driver could affect them. Isn't there a way to manually enter the OpenGL details like via the registry or something? Or even hex edit? *EDIT: Although very buggy, OpenRA works on my WinXP running inside VMware, which uses a generic gfx driver. My Win 7 64bit uses an NVidia driver. Maybe OpenRA hasn't been tested thoroughly on NVidia drivers? Can you name a few games that require OpenGL? I'd like to try and see if other OpenGL games work because I've now tried 2 different OpenGL tools ('OpenGL Extensions Viewer v4.1' and 'Geeks3D GPU Caps Viewer v1.20.1.1') and they both detect the same OpenGL version (v4.4).
  19. Didn't work. After double-clicking the newly made OpenRA icon on my desktop, my mouse cursor changes to busy / loading for a couple of seconds, then nothing. I then went into the OpenRA folder and run OpenRA.CrashDialog.exe and a window box (or dialog box or whatever it's called) comes up: "Fatal Error OpenRA has encountered a fatal error and must close. Refer to the crash logs and FAQ for more information." exception.log: Operating System: Windows (Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1) Runtime Version: .NET CLR 4.0.30319.18063 Exception of type `System.InvalidOperationException`: No suitable renderers were found. 20. What does SC and EA mean? At first I thought EA stood for Electronic Arts, but then I remembered that EA didn't own the rights to Tiberian Dawn at the time. *EDIT: Single-player Campaign?
  21. Yeah I tried playing a couple of the missions with AND without the BIN files... you definitely need the respective BIN files . Without that file, the map still looked similar but without things like water, cliffs and roads. Thanx.
