This problem might be related to the downloading plugin used in the installer, older plugins did always abort. The new installer is using a better plugin that doesnt abort, but it has yet another problem which is causing the installer to fail after a runtime of 50mins. How long does your download take? I just looked through the code, if the game is in WOL mode and it is a tournament game then a surrender dialog shows up when you press abort Gonna turn that on for cncnet now, will update it today

I was just reading that there is a bug in the tools i used to create the installer, a resouce (GDI objects) leak that breaks the installer after a runtime of about 50minutes. I never noticed that since my connection is fast and the download takes only 10-15min. How long does it take for you to download the files for the full installation? You could try to uncheck the "install cd2" box and the download should only take half the time, maybe that is going to fix the problem Adding singleplayer to the mini install would be an option too Edit: Here is how you can do a full install using the freeware files directly: 1. The game probably has an automatic surrender feature (that's what i heard, not sure if it's true), if that's the case then it should be possible to enable it with a tiny change What happened on WOL when a player was pressing abort? What happened when a player was losing the connection?

Can you try the Mini-Web installation option to see if that one works?

Do you have any security programs installed? Anti-virus/Firewall/Sandbox? Make sure those program are not blocking the installer Is there any error message? Are you sure it really stucks, it could take a few minutes to extract the files

Yep, I hope so too And btw, that problem with the 16bit is related to windows 8 and not your graphics card (Microsoft dropped support for 16bit)

We had no ladder for years, the result is that good players only play against other good players and all of them avoid beginners. When there is a ladder things will change, some good players will hunt for beginners just to get points and increase their ranking. We will clearly lose a lot of new players because of that, but the good players might show up more often just to keep their ranking high. So overall the ladder got good sides and bad sides Once the ladder was running for a couple of months and all the good players got high rankings then things will change for sure, playing against beginners won't give them points anymore (if the math is good) and the noob hunting will not be such a big problem anymore Hard to tell what impact the ladder will have on the activity

got them i keep the how to pirate ra2 and how to cheat tutorial out though, you can do better

did you check the text of the file, in raed you can click the T in the top right. Units can have different modes (Guard, Sleep etc..) maybe thats the problem

If one of the players got windows 8 then he will prolly lag the whole game since it isn't fully supported atm They are working on it though, so it will probably be fixed soon

We have managed to revive the games without ladder, I don't think ladder is so important

I guess this might only work when short game is off?

The installer i linked contains the full game, no music/videos and therefore just 13mb of size It downloads updates on the first start with the size of around 10mb, so you end up with 23mb overall
