I wonder if this can be applied to make a ring style KOTH match for multiplayer? Capture one of the buildings in the center to get money, if its destroyed; that player loses and is out of the match, while the rest fight on. -

For NOD vs GDI this is an instant tech map, rush a temple; then move onto the island and keep nuking their war factories to keep them at bay. (Just wanted to add that) In general; you want to spam ref's and sell them to get quick harvesters to make space for more buildings fast. Other then that; I suggest taking the other two posts right away and building refs at them asap. Its easy to get kicked off the island, and its game over when that happens. Any really good GDI player will tell you to rely more on infantry support at the start of the game then hoping for the medium rush. You just need to provide situations in which those infantry can work. All going well you can skip straight to mammoth or fall back on the medium if things go wrong. Also, med's have one cell longer range then light tanks, so use it to your advantage when in defensive positions.

Sounds like the tunnel system might be running into trouble; This is what we get for paying basically next to nothing for vps services (or using java). Complain to hifi.

Matt, this is supposed to be an open discussion, you are turning it into something else; since you are the only representative for OpenRA here I suggest you either get some of the other guys to take your place or learn to chill a bit. Nyerguds, are you up to going over to openRA and fixing the entire engine/game so it matches the feel of TD?

Try running it on "stamina" if you have that button. Otherwise I would suggest cleaning out the heatsink and replacing the contact surface pads with high quality conductant.

But you have to realise, RA was popular probably because of a mistake or a very last minute change inspired by like a beta tester/random dev. If you compare all the westwood games before, none of them has the tank rushing and vehicle speed the same as RA. We pretty much conclude here that the entire premise of such gameplay was forced against the nature of its origins, making it the oddity that *started* tank rushing but that oddity being an important step in the evolution of rts's in making them popular. Which is why its even more important to preserve it the way it is; as an oddity that started it all.

But why take the name if you are not gonna try and actually make it of that namesake? Red Alert is the game we have now. The moment you change the smallest bit inside, its no longer what it used to be.

Why did you "rebalance" the game? You had the ability to perfectly recreate the original feel and texture but you didn't. Why?

PS: Matt, This thread is all about concept maps, these are nothing to be released; k? People ARE WELCOME to make their own maps based off of them, but all the sources are hopefully destroyed after being posted. Cheers
