Ugh. Right. "we fixed the sandbag basewalking/enclosing cheat! You can't build sandbags anymore." That's like saying "I fixed the visceroid attacking bug in the Cactus Valley map! I removed the map from the game."
-
You never mentioned it being enabled for all involved players, did you?
-
A mixed tech tree is just overpowered. You can combine tech in a way that gives clear advantages. So either way, it's cheating.

Never heard of any such map editor. I've seen DOS savegame editors, and a DOS scenario editor which used its own data file which you needed to explicitly extract the ini and bin from with additional tools, but I've never seen a map editor that can open SAV files. And I collect old C&C tools, so I doubt I'd have missed it. There aren't THAT many map editors.

Well, then at least he learned a bit after I complained about him using my patch without permission... Anyway, missions designed for a modded C&C won't be any good on the normal game.

The header of .eng format uses 2 bytes, and the references in them are from the start of the file, not the start beyond the header. This means the full size can only be 64k... unless it's seen as signed, in which case it'll be 32k.

"C&C Classic Revolution" a mod for Red Alert The Aftermath
Nyerguds replied to Tore's topic in CnCNet News
Hey, he's leaving feedback on the actual mod. Nothing wrong with that. -
Wait, that means they planned a separate list for unofficial missions then? whatever happened to that idea? :|
-
No way. You got the demo mode working? Does it work when changing resolutions between recording and playback?

My edit derped because the site timed out. I had added "Actually adding new stuff into an existing and space-limited exe is always a chore, though."
-
I dunno. Wasn't too hard to edit. Actually adding new stuff into an existing and space-limited exe is always a chore, though. Doesn't the game already have that? The "Absolute MADness" mission does that...
-
Because they apparently completely revised the internal data storage in the heaps in C&C95, making the mem dumps incompatible.

leadership and efficiency for single player C&C95/Tiberian Dawn
Nyerguds replied to tommytarzan's topic in C&C 1
What about it? It's just an option in the mission file. -
The official CnCNet5 client+game package download thread
Nyerguds replied to FunkyFr3sh's topic in CnCNet Discussion
Still has that ugly fade effect, though -
Can't you just emulate that by giving a bunch of stuff that tech building as prerequisite?
-
Define "editing". If you mean rules.ini, it was pretty well documented by the actual programmers who made it.

leadership and efficiency for single player C&C95/Tiberian Dawn
Nyerguds replied to tommytarzan's topic in C&C 1
No, as was already said, "efficiency" for GDI is simply how resource-efficient you are. End with at least as much money as you start with, and you got 100%. -
leadership and efficiency for single player C&C95/Tiberian Dawn
Nyerguds replied to tommytarzan's topic in C&C 1
Capturing also counts as destroying. For the Triggers system anyway, so I doubt the score screen would count them differently. And no, I think it really means "efficiency" as in "doing as little as possible to achieve the goal". -
Fixed that for you. Really, they're the files your tool relies on. There's no reason whatsoever for users to customize those. Once they're in the game folder? Sure. But the originals the tool puts in the folder? Hell no.
-
Huh. MrFlibble, did you message him about it or something? He suddenly mailed me to ask about something that didn't work in the pack... O_o Well, I helped him out, of course. ...it's what I do, I guess

Can we add more colours to the Tiberium Dawn games?
Nyerguds replied to CO-Wolf's topic in CnCNet Discussion
I know where the palettes are. There's just nothing referencing them except the original House constructors. -
Ugh. Really, funkyFr3sh, it's incredibly easy to store these files INSIDE THE TOOL. Just add it to the resources. I can give you example code from CCConfig. aanri2: the tool requires there to be some subfolder containing these files I think.
-
I see. So it actually parses the campaign side info and such from that string again then?
-
Ugh. That guy. He took DOS C&C, slapped a bunch of his own missions on it (and, if I remember correctly, tons of data changes in the unit weapons and stats too), and basically released it as if it was the normal original game, without any notice that anything was changed. To make it worse, he later did this again with C&C95, using my patch, without any crediting me for my work in it. That guy is the sole reason the current 1.06 version adds "by Nyerguds" on the main menu.

Does anyone actually use these buttons anyway? I mean, beside the smileys perhaps?
