Not sure how I managed to miss that file in the updates. I'll fix it ASAP. EDIT: The file is included in version 1.88.
-
The crash related to expandmd02.mix should be fixed beginning with version 1.87, released tonight.
-
Nothing to worry about.

Delete the expandmd02.mix file. We'll release an update to fix this soon.

@tomsons26: The wsock32.dll works on everything prior to Windows 10. For CnCNet it's unnecessary and just causes problems though, so I made the client remove it.

This topic is obsolete - replaced by http://cnc-comm.com/community/index.php?topic=4617.0 -
Fixes and changes: - New game options: RA2 Classic Mode and Brutal AI - Fixed: DateTime parsing client crash - Wsock32.dll is now deleted on client startup, resolves issues caused by wsock32.dll installed by third-party patches - Resolved an issue related to map previews not getting rendered - Improved the conditions for when players get the "Modified files detected" message to avoid false positives Feedback, bugs, etc. can be posted to this topic.

Last time I checked, JPGs saved with the map renderer have a horrible amount of compression. It could be visible in the previews with a maximized window on high-resolution monitors. I doubt JPGs are significantly faster to render. As for disk space, surely 100 MB of map previews is no issue when you can buy 1 TB drives for ~60€.

Based on googling, it appears that the error is caused by malware. Try running some virus scanners, if it doesn't help (combined with sfc /scannow), you might have to reinstall Windows.

It seems that there's an issue related to the map rendering that is affecting some users. It will be fixed soon (hopefully this weekend).

The next version of DTA introduces an awesome feature that many thought was completely impossible: multiplayer saves. You are able to manually save multiplayer games and then load them via the client. Possible disconnects, crashes or synchronization errors won't stop you from completing a game anymore, as long as you remembered to save during the game. To make the process simpler, you only have one multiplayer save slot available. In other words, saving a MP game will always overwrite your previous MP save. We're also looking into the possibility of making the game auto-save every few minutes in multiplayer, removing the need for saving manually. But it won't make it into the next update yet.

YR doesn't really have as many things to fix as TS did. Plus I'm a TS modder anyway, I don't really have interest in YR. Grant of CnCNet also disliked the idea of including mod support the way I did it in the TS client, which is why mod support is disabled in the YR client right now.
-
Nope, I'm not planning to release a similar enhancement / mod support package for RA2/YR.
-
Sorry, but you have no idea what you're talking about. Grant is correct, rendering the maps takes a while. If you still don't see high-res map previews after a few dozen minutes, make sure that you have .NET Framework 4 installed.

Delete wsock32.dll from your game directory. It's the LAN patch installed by the unofficial TFD patch 1.03.

Vanilla RA2 = Red Alert 2. Without Yuri's Revenge. -
CnCNet 5 YR Update Released! Report bugs and give feedback

The map previews should be generated over time on the background as you play on CnCNet. There never were separate clients, vanilla RA2 has never been supported and I can't see support being added anytime soon. An option for having RA2 rules in YR (and Yuri as unplayable) is coming though, but it won't make you able to play RA2 Co-op missions. The colors of the AI players in co-op missions are coded in the missions themselves, they do not "adopt" the human players' colors. -
A video of me and Bittah Commander beating Sombracier's Co-Op mission, Chrono Hazard, on Hard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRwlbneRB_c Sorry about the arrow pointing wrong in the GIF

Delete dscore.dat. The next update will fix the problem permanently.

There's obviously nothing we can do about it. You should report it to Kaspersky Lab instead.

I'm Confused about the beginnings of CnCNet...

Note that while hifi might be willing to cooperate with XWIS or give control of CnCNet to Olaf, the rest of the CnCNet staff might not be as friendly towards XWIS. That includes me. The way I see it, XWIS has basically sat for 10 years, not doing any real improvements to the games, while CnCNet has built a simple, superior download-and-play service with the spawners and clients that offers more options for the players in an easy-to-install package that (usually) requires no messing around with compatibility settings and such to work. The reason why XWIS is dying and CnCNet is rising in popularity is simply that CnCNet has been and currently is superior. Another thing that concerns especially me is mod support. XWIS never cared - while CnCNet has embraced mods like DTA by including us on their site, posting content about us on Facebook and by providing us with unique channels. To be honest that's pretty much why I've adapted DTA's client to YR as well - CnCNet has been a great service, if they were hostile towards mods I'd have told the rest of the staff to build their own client.
